Facts about our brushed pine wood finish

Following the trend for more texture and contrast in the surface of wood,

certain items of furniture in our range have been manufactured using

brushed pine wood. This technique creates a textured, more tactile surface

by highlighting the wood veins and knots thereby accenting the woods

Lead-time

Delivery

Delivery charges (door to door) can be quoted on request using our

nominated courier service. Charges are calculated based on carton

dimensions/volume. Please allow 2-3 working days for delivery.

Alternatively, customers can arrange their own collection. If volume details are

required for a particular order, then we are happy to provide these details.

Cancellations and Returns

We hope that you are happy with any product purchased, but if you wish to

change your mind or return a product to us, for any reason, you may do so

providing you act within 5 days.

You MUST notify us in writing and we will refund you in full or replace the

product within 15 days of receipt of your notification.

If goods have already been delivered to you, then they must be returned to

us before a refund can be processed.

Goods must be returned to us in a saleable condition and in the original,

undamaged packaging. We may withhold up to 20% of the purchase price

of returned goods, if the product or packaging is in such a condition that the

item is not fully re-saleable.

Return delivery charges will only be refunded in the event of faulty,

damaged or incorrect items. This does not affect your statutory rights.

We cannot refund or exchange self assembly items if they have been

assembled, unless faulty. Also, if you have tampered with the goods in any

way, then a demand for a refund or replacement can be denied.

Warranty

Consumers have six months to return faulty or unsafe goods.

In the case of a product defect, you may be refunded in full or one or more

parts will be repaired or if necessary replaced.

Should there be any visible defects on our self assembly items or if hardware

parts are found to be missing, then please contact us immediately.

Our product warranty for bunks, midsleepers and highsleepers

In the event of a manufacturing fault occurring within 2 years there is a

replacement warranty. The product/part product will be replaced.

IMPORTANT: Slight deviations in colour and size and slight marks in our solid

wood products are simply the characteristics of natural products and

contribute to the overall charm. Damage caused by incorrect use, through

gross negligence or mistreatment is not covered in the guarantee. This is

especially the case if the assembly instructions are not followed.

Oil

aI 359997 - Transparent

bI 360000 - Natural

Solid oak is strong and durable and suitable for intensive use, however

to keep the natural character of the wood we recommend treating it

with oil. This oil is specially developed for solid oak furniture and flooring

and is resistant to dirt and stains. The Natural oil will give the wood a

warm colour whilst the Translucent oil will hardly alter the look of the

untreated finish. One 400ml tin of oil will treat approximately 10m2.

Facts about our Untreated Solid Oak Products

Our untreated solid oak furniture should be treated and assembled as soon as

it is removed from the packaging. Wood is a natural product which will warp if

it is not treated. All wooden boards should be treated on both sides with a

layer of stain or a lacquer or wax to achieve a natural effect. Oil can also be

used. Oils are available to purchase from REALM directly. Please ask us for

details. Our oil is specially developed for solid oak furniture and flooring and is

resistant to dirt and stains. One 400ml tin will treat approximately 10m2. We

have two oils available - Natural and Transparent. The Natural oils will give the

wood a warm colour whilst the Transparent oil will hardly alter the look of the

untreated finish. Be advised that as wood is a natural product, there will

always be a slight variation to the finish when treated - this is due to

absorption.

Please note that we also work with a local South African Cape Town based,

paint manufacturer www.harlequin.co.za who offers a much wider range of

acrylic, water-based varnishes which are suitable for use on our untreated

furniture. We recommend Harlequin’s Suede Varnish which will achieve a

similar finish to our own Transparent oil. This oil can be purchased directly from

the supplier. Please ask us for further details.

IMPORTANT: Always follow directions on the packaging or tin and TEST OUT THE

COLOUR FIRST in the underside of the board.

Facts about our Brushed Pine Wood Finish

Following the trend for more texture and contrast in the surface of wood,

certain items of furniture in our range have been manufactured using brushed

pine wood. This technique creates a textured, more tactile surface by

highlighting the wood veins and knots thereby accenting the woods natural

grain. Small bumps and fine cracks may be visible in some cases. It is

important to note that these are characteristics of mature wood - each piece

is unique.
