Our Schoolsystem

• School starts at the age of 6 years• All children go to Primary School for 4 years• Secondary School is from 10 to 16• At the end of Primary School the teachers

recommend the school the child should go to• It is the parents who decide!!!• There are three different secondary schools:

Secondary Schools

• Gymnasium (highest school education) it prepares students for university after 8 years)

• Realschule (medium level, it prepares students for professional training, but also for higher education at the gymnasium)

• Hauptschule ( it prepares the students to be fit for jobs)

Realschule Barßel –Europaschule-

• 420 students (age: from 10 to 17)• 30 teachers (18 full time, 12 part time)• 17 classes• 5th form: 29 lessons a week• Form 6 – 10: 30 lessons a week• About 40 school weeks a year

Characteristics

• We offer special tuitition for all students from form 5 – 7 in English, German and Maths

• We offer preventive measures for all students to give them strong personalities (say „no“ to drugs etc)

• We have afternoon lessons• We offer a school meal in our Mensa• We have a lot extracurricular activities:

volleyball, rowing, table tennis, soccer etc
