Reasons Why You should stop buying from Big Corporations

Purpose: I want to influence the students to stop buying from major corporations.

Thesis:

I. Introduction:A. Once Slavery w3as ended in 1865 companies had to find other ways for labor; But they

didn’t have to look far because slavery still exist if “Commit a Crime”. [Attention Getter]B. Knowing that the products that we buy everyday are making profit off of peoples family

members who are in prison.C. These corporations are also polluting our communities.

Transition: explaining how prisoners are basically being slaves and these companies are making a major profit off of them.

II. BodyA. Most of the things people buy from big companies are made by prisoners in America.

1. Prisoners are making items for these companies for very little pay(.23 cents -1.15 per hour)under harsh conditions.

2. Prisoners will be working in prison but end up being in debt after they get out.3. They don’t inform you that their products were made in a prison.4. The reason why this is hurting the community because most of the ;lations and African

Americans are in prison.Transition: ALEC bills, which largely benefit the organization’s corporate members, have been introduced in legislatures in every state—but without disclosing to the public that corporations previously drafted or voted on them through ALEC.

B. ALEC is an organization that has big corporations and people that are in our Government who teams up and make bills that doesn’t help America.

1. For example Alec came up with the stand your ground law. Right after that Trayvon Martin an unarmed was killed my George Zimmerman and Zimmerman didn’t go to jail because of the stand your guard law.

2. According to Think Progress Blog ALEC wants to “Reducing or eliminating income taxes: Research conducted for ALEC has claimed that cutting the income tax rate in states will spur growth and create jobs, and many states have followed up on this research and proposed just such plans. The group’s connection to anti-tax efforts was made abundantly clear when a state lawmaker neglected to remove its mission statement from a boilerplate bill.”

3. “Blocking paid sick leave bills: While the movement to guarantee workers paid sick days have gained momentum at the city and state level, as New York City just joined four other cities and Connecticut with such a bill, ALEC has been behind a counter effort to make sure these laws can’t be enacted. The latest such bill passed in Florida, where local governments are now forbidden from enacting paid sick leave legislation. They have also cropped up in Wisconsin, Michigan, and Mississippi.” Published by PRWATCH.com on July 30, 2014.

4. Companies like AT&T, BlueCross, Comcast, Dell, Facebook, Amazon, FedEx, etc. are involved with ALEC.

Transition: Showing how these major companies are polluting places across the planetC. Major Companies pollute countries around the planet.

1. An environmental protection bureau in China had found a Coca-Cola Company bottling facility in Gansu province had falsified pollution data, according to an article published on 22 October 2015 on the Reuters website.

2. According to an article published on the website www.africareview.com June 28th 2012, the US-based Centre for Science in the Public Interest (CSPI) wants Coca-Cola to reduce the levels of a cancer causing chemical in its flagship brand sold in Kenya and other parts of the world.

3. The chemicals that are polluting the air do cause cancer.4. Coca Cola office in Nairobi said it had no plans to change the formula, saying that its

products were safe. This is showing you that they are not willing to change.

Transition: I have given more than enough reasons why it’s good to stop buying from major companies.

III. Conclusiona. Major companies are making a profit in the wrong wayb. If you continue buying and supporting these companies it will get worse.
