to become citizen journalists by educating them in basic principles of creating articles,

The REC Magazine is a relatively new local on-line magazine
(recmag.org) of Youth Association DRONI that gives space to all the
young people in Georgia to become authors, develop their
competencies as citizen journalists, share what they are interested in
and gain self-confidence by sharing their stories publicly.
REC Magazine is fully participative bilingual (Georgian-English) projectgives the young people an opportunity to look to their surroundings
through a new perspective - through a lens of camera, audio recorder
or article and to introduce their stories to the others, bringing the
attention to marginalized or hidden topics.

PROFILE OF THE VOLUNTEERS
10 MONTHS EVS - APRIL 2016 - FEBRUARY 2017

DRONI does not require to any particular qualifications from its potential EVS
candidates. Indeed all the necessary training is provided to the volunteers only after
coming to the place of service. This way anyone is able to take part in the project
regardless of their age, gender, religion, education and social background. However,
DRONI looks for a motivated candidate who is willing to take part in a great diversity ofactivities and to develop a large panel of skills. Firstly, the candidate should have an
interest in the main theme of the project. Secondly, the volunteer should be interested
in activities based on communication with young people and the promotion of various
projects organised for youth. Apart from this, DRONI will look for a volunteer who will
be very motivated and ready to get to know the cultural and social aspects of the
country better.
We are looking for a volunteer that would be responsible, motivated, communicative, willing to work with the target group of the project (young people and disadvantaged
youth students), to be creative and who would have some basic experience or
knowledge for doing a magazine or newspaper, as well as some basic computer
skills. However journalism or design skills are not mandatory, because volunteer
would learn these skills during the project with help of host organization staff and other
volunteers. The profile of the volunteer should correspond to the project activities as
well as their interests. As the REC Magazine project is about creating a magazine, we
are looking for someone creative and with fresh ideas. It also requires responsibilityand open-mindedness. Volunteer should have good communication skills and good
foreign language knowledge.
The participants should be young people between 18-30 years old, we are open to
selecting participants from disadvantaged communities (migrants, cultural minorities,
unemployed youngsters, economically disadvantaged, school drop-outs etc.)

FINAL NOTES
Tbilisi is a vibrant multi-cultural city with rich culture, many amazing
historic touristic sights, unique old town, but also many modern and
underground bars and cafés, numerous events going on in the
downtown and around. The typical soviet project buildings create
specific atmosphere of its suburbs.
In past few years the city became popular destination of tourists andespecially young travelers and "freedom seekers", keen to discover the
local culture, traditions and places that are only known to the locals.
Georgia is characteristic with amazing hospitality and openness
towards visitors, who are ready to respect the local customs.
