Cows• Cows are branded, have their horns cut off, and are castrated all

without any form of anesthesia• They have their throats slit and are skinned (a lot of the times still conscious)

Page 3: Recast power point

Turkeys• To prevent the turkeys from killing each other, workers cut off a

portion of their beaks and toes (with out painkillers) • At the slaughterhouse, turkeys are boiled in a tank of water to remove feathers. A lot of the times they are still conscious through this process

Chickens• Hens are crammed into small cages where they spend most of their

life• The cages are stacked on top of each other and rarely get cleaned,

so often times the hens will acquire an infection or disease• Male chickens are thought to be useless to the egg industry

because they don’t lay eggs. So, many male chicks are suffocated in trash bags at birth

Pigs• Farmers will slam pigs heads on concrete floors to kill them if they think the

pig is useless• The first process in the slaughter line for pigs is the shocker• Later, pigs are hung upside down, have their throats slit, and are boiled alive all while still conscious

Pigs Continued“There was a live hog in the pit. It hadn’t done anything wrong, wasn’t even running around the pit. It was just alive. I took a three-foot chunk of pip two-inch diameter pipe and I literally beat that hog to death. Couldn’t have been a two-inch piece of solid bone left in its head.” (Eisnitz)
