About the University

The genesis of Bhagat Phool Singh Mahila

Vishwavidyalaya goes back to 1936 when BhagatPhool Singh ji established a Gurukul, exclusively

for girls at Khanpur Kalan, Sonepat. In 2006 the

Gurukul was given the status of University asBPS Mahila Vishwavidyalaya (BPSMV) by the

Government of Haryana. This is the first

University not only in the state but also in theentire north India dedicated exclusively to

women education and upliftment of rural women.

It has a sprawling campus of about 500 acresreplete with modern facilities for teaching and

research. The University offers a world-classinfrastructure and has created an environmentthat supports all round development of students

enrolled in its different institutions and

departments. The university is imparting

education in various fields such as engineering,

management, laws, economics, ayurveda,

languages, teacher education, pharmaceutical,etc. The University has marked its presence on

international level too by signing MOUs with the

Universities such as universities of Baltimore

(USA), Nottingham Trent (UK), St. Catherine(USA), Kwangwoon (South Korea). TheUniversity hopes to set an example and provide amodel for womens empowerment through

education in this country.

About the Department of Fashion

Technology

The Department of Fashion Technology is one of

the leading and rapidly growing departments of

B.P.S. Mahila Vishwavidyalaya, Khanpur Kalan,Sonepat. The department started in 2008 as

constituent part of School of Engineering and

Sciences and thereafter in October 2013, it hasbeen established as a separate department. The

department offers four year B.Tech. programmein Fashion Technology along with UGC granted

innovative programme in M.Tech. Fashion

Technology (Functional Garments) and Ph.D

Programme. The undergraduate, postgraduateand research programs are being carried out

successfully with the noble efforts by staffmembers.

About the Workshop

The focus of the Workshop will be recent

developments in the field of fashion and textiles.

The developments in fibre, yarn and fabric,

garment manufacturing technology, technicaltextiles and their applications will be covered

under the workshop. The supply chain

management, merchandising, marketing, fashion

trends, computer software dealt with textile and

fashion, etc contents will be also covered. Theaim of the Workshop is to call eminent speakers

in aforesaid areas from the academic institutions

and industries so knowledge may be

disseminated amongst participants.
