Inpatients are accommodated on two wards and a specialist high dependency unit for patients with gastrointestinal bleeding. There is 24 hour therapeutic endoscopy provision for patients presenting with acute gastrointestinal emergencies. The successful applicant would be expected to contribute to the on call endoscopy cover.

This is a joint working initiative between Jobcentre Plus, on behalf of the Department for Work and Pensions, and the Department of Health. NHS Grampian is commissioned by Jobcentre Plus to provide the CMP for people in Grampian in receipt of Incapacity Benefit, and who are referred by specialist advisors to the service.

The CMP provides one-to-one programmes of supported self- help to clients, in order to address complex health related barriers which are preventing a return to the workplace. This work is based on the broad principles of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy. The aim of the CMP is to increase an individual’s understanding of their health condition, and to work with him/her to develop strategies to manage it in such a way as to optimise their capacity to have an improved quality of life, and increase their confidence in order to facilitate a return to work.

Three multi-disciplinary teams will provide the service across Grampian from a variety of different venues, including Jobcentre Plus offices, clients’ homes (when appropriate) and other community venues. Teams work closely with Jobcentre Plus colleagues and other employment focused services within the CHPs and local communities. The final phase of the recruitment process is underway and NHSG now offer the following posts which will form part of the Condition Management Programme Team.

Practitioners Band 6 Will provide an advanced health, social and occupational assessment of Incapacity Benefit Customers presenting with mild to moderate health conditions including but not limited to musculoskeletal, cardio-respiratory and mental health conditions. Candidates should be educated to degree level and have a professional qualification in Nursing, Physiotherapy or Occupational Therapy. Post graduate training in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy is desirable.
