The Globa l Day s of Act ion from march 24 th 26 th wil l mar k the first peak of the Spring of Resistance in 2011. On Thursday 24 th (the “Day of Rage Against Cuts”) students, workers and the public will rally at city hall in New York City (USA). Activists in Paris (France) will demon strat e in solidarity with Russian students in the fight for emancipatory education free from economic oppression. The struggle will continue with the “educa tio n is a rig ht” rally in Den Haag (Netherlands) on Friday 25 th of Mar chas par t ofa nat ion alweekof ac tion. Fre nch act ivi sts wil l sen d a wake up call where ver they are by ringing a buzzer at 2pm. Feel free to  join them and spread the message! Also on Friday anticuts demonstra tions in Graz (Austria) will be accom panied by student activists leading up to the actions on 26 th in Vie nna against austerity measures destroying educa tion,solidar ityand ourecologic al basis of existence. On Saturday March 26 th hundreds of thousands will rise together in differ ent places all over the world! Espe cia lly in London (UK) where it is expected to have massive demonstra tions in different locations, including: walkouts, bankoccupations, creative act ionsaswellas anoccup ati onof Hy depark. Activists in Puerto Rico and other re gions of the world declared March 11 th an International Day of Solidarity for the ongoing struggle against fees and the incre asing privatis ation of education at the University of Puerto Rico. For months students have been on strike resisting the introduction of US$800 in fees as well as the occupa tion of campuses by police forces. According to activists in Puerto Rico "this international day of solid arity was convened to support the struggle of students at the UPR. It also sought to place the struggle in Puerto Rico in the global context of the fight for free emancipatory education." The initiat ors of this day of solidarity also con firmed it to be part of the "Spring of Resistance". At various locatio ns, such as Phil adelp hia (U.S.A.), Havana (Cuba ), Mad rid (Spain) and Mancheste r (UK), eve nts were hel d to inf orm people about the ongoing situation at UPR. Elsewhere, for example in Bar cel ona (Ca tal oni a/Spain), Bos ton (U.S.A.), Chicago (U.S.A.), Marburg (Germany), Mexic o City (Mexi co) and New York City (U.S.A.) rallies rangi ng between 5 and 500 peopl e were held. Also in San Juan (Puerto Rico) itself hundreds gathered for a rally on Rio Piedras campus.
