The Global Days of Action frommarch 24th26 th will mark the firstpeak of the Spring of Resistance in2011.On Thursday 24th (the “Day of RageAgainst Cuts”) students, workers andthe public will rally at city hall inNew York City (USA). Activists inParis (France) will demonstrate insolidarity with Russian students in the

fight for emancipatory education freefrom economic oppression.The struggle will continue with the“education is a right” rally in DenHaag (Netherlands) on Friday 25th of Marchas part ofa nationalweekof ac tion. French activists will send awake up call wherever they are byringing a buzzer at 2pm. Feel free to join them and spread the message!

Also on Friday anti cuts demonstra tions in Graz (Austria) will be accom panied by student activists leading upto the actions on 26th in Viennaagainst austerity measures destroyingeducation,solidarityand ourecologic al basis of existence.On Saturday March 26th hundreds of thousands will rise together in differ ent places all over the world! Espe

cially in London (UK) where it isexpected to have massive demonstra tions in different locations, including:

walkouts, bank occupations, creativeactions aswellas anoccupationof Hy depark. For more information, check out www.resist26.org. Activists in Puerto Rico and other re gions of the world declared March11th an International Day of Solidarityfor the ongoing struggle against feesand the increasing privatisation of education at the University of PuertoRico. For months students have beenon strike resisting the introduction of US$800 in fees as well as the occupa

tion of campuses by police forces.According to activists in Puerto Rico"this international day of solidaritywas convened to support the struggleof students at the UPR. It also soughtto place the struggle in Puerto Rico inthe global context of the fight for freeemancipatory education." The initiat ors of this day of solidarity also con

firmed it to be part of the "Spring of Resistance".At various locations, such as Phil adelphia (U.S.A.), Havana (Cuba),Madrid (Spain) and Manchester(UK), events were held to informpeople about the ongoing situation atUPR. Elsewhere, for example in Bar celona (Catalonia/Spain), Boston

(U.S.A.), Chicago (U.S.A.), Marburg(Germany), Mexico City (Mexico)and New York City (U.S.A.) ralliesranging between 5 and 500 peoplewere held. Also in San Juan (PuertoRico) itself hundreds gathered for arally on Rio Piedras campus.Furthermore, in Berkeley (U.S.A.),Buenos Aires (Argentina), Galiza
