OUTREACH MINISTRY

Members of this ministry primarily bring the Eucharist to those of our parish who are unable to attend a Mass on the weekend. Additionally, members serve as Eucharistic Ministers at Mass as needed. Contact the rectory to find out more about this ministry. Or contact the rectory if you know of someone who would appreciate receiving the Eucharist at home.

“Go, therefore, and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, until the end of the age.” - Mt 28:19-20 Excerpts from the Lectionary for Mass ©2001, 1998, 1970 CCD

Catholic Communications Campaign

“The truth will set you free.” (John 8:32) —Pope Francis, Message for the 52nd World Communications Day, 2018 May 24, 2018 My dear brothers and sisters in Christ, In his message this year for World Communications Day, Pope Francis contrasts the constructive power of authentic communications and the destructive nature of fake news in our world. He writes, “a weighty responsibility rests on the shoulders of those whose job is to provide information, namely journalists, the protectors of news. In today’s world . . . it is a mission . . . it means being in touch with people’s lives. . . a real means of promoting goodness, generating trust, and opening the way to communion and peace.” On the weekend of June 3rd, our Diocese will take up a collection for the Catholic Communication Campaign (CCC). This national collection helps bring the Gospel message to the public square so that all can know the love of God and help make this a better world. It is not a mere coincidence that the pope’s citation from the Gospel of St. John has also been part of the masthead of our own newspaper, The Catholic Free Press, for the past 67 years and now, by extension, the vision of our diocesan-wide Communications Ministry. Faithful and honest sharing about the life of our Catholic Community is at the service of our evangelizing mission, which seeks to proclaim God’s love to the world as the true path to eternal happiness. As people continue to access more information on mobile devices and feel overwhelmed by so much noise, there is an increased need to provide faith resources on these platforms as well. With your support of the CCC, the daily readings and seasonal reflections are available as free podcasts to download and listen to at any time, or to read from our diocesan and parish websites along with watching local Masses and program, as well as reading local and national Catholic news stories. Thanks to your donations, Catholics are able to stay connected to their parish and to their Catholic faith even when they are traveling or not regularly at Mass. Continued

PLEASE SUPPORT OUR SPONSORS

ADVERTISER OF THE WEEK

BLACK & WHITE GRILL

Roughly half of the funds collected will remain here in the Diocese to help our local communications projects expand parish-centered communications in collaboration with diocesan programs. The remainder funds national media relations and communications efforts as well as international projects in developing countries. For more information about the collection and the projects it supports, visit www.usccb.org/ccc. We must rely on your financial support of this collection in order to truly heed the words of Pope Francis, “As sons and daughters of God, we are called to communicate with everyone, without exception.” Please accept my thanks for reflecting on how you can help. With every prayerful best wish, I remain Sincerely yours in Christ, Most Reverend Robert J. McManus Bishop of Worcester

Haitian Sewing Ministry Our Haitian Sewing Ministry meets every Wednesday from 9 am to noon downstairs in our church hall. Volunteers are needed to press fabrics, to gather sewing items into kits, and for those with portable sewing machines, to sew up dresses, shorts, small blankets and pillow cases. It’s a very busy, very happy place and we’d love to have you join us! Light refreshments are always served.
