Recycling is easy!Recycling in Bath and North East Somerset is easy when you follow these simple steps:1 Recycle as much as you can using your weekly collections • Foodbinforfoodwasterecycling • Greenboxforrecycling • Bluebagforcardboardrecycling2 Compost as much as you can at home or use our fortnightly garden

waste collection service (for a charge).3 Book a bulky waste collection for larger unwanted things such as furniture,

or take them to one of our three Recycling Centres. Even better still, reduce what you throw away and reuse things if you can, before recycling (see back cover).

Why recycle?• As waste rots in landfill sites, it produces greenhouse gases that

contribute to global warming.• It is becoming increasingly expensive to send our waste to landfill so

we can save money by recycling.• It saves the amount of raw materials (such as trees and oil), energy and

water used to make things from new.Lastyearwerecycled52%ofyourwasteinBathandNorthEastSomersetbutwecanrecyclelotsmore!

• Line your kitchen caddy with a compostable liner or newspaper.

• Use your caddy for all your food waste.

• Empty your caddy into your food waste bin before it gets too full, and rinse these bins regularly to keep them clean. (Loose food gets stuck so we can’t always empty your bin completely).

• Make sure you keep your food waste bin locked by pulling the handle forward so it is secure from animals and birds.

You can recycle all your cooked and uncooked food waste everyweek using your kitchen caddy and outside food waste bin. Your food waste will be composted and used on agricultural land.
