The Season of Giving at Red Willow
We are entering the Holiday Season and with that,
Red Willow families and our students are excited to share
in the ‘Spirit of Giving’. This month, we are recognizing
Giving as our Character Trait of the Month. Throughout
the school, classes and groups will be doing things to show
how we are good citizens and give back to our community.
We will be having some special activities this month.
On December 12th we will be having our Winter Concert.
We hope you will be able to join us for some great perfor-
mances. On December 21 we will have a PJ day on which
students are welcome to wear their pyjamas (just make sure
to dress warm enough). Also, on December 21 we will have
a Student Recognition Assembly which you can attend.
We hope you have a Happy Holiday and a Merry
Christmas to those who celebrate it. School resumes on Jan-

Presenting the Red Willow Athletic Council:
Important Information from your PE Department:
Our Grade 4 and 5 students received their Physical Education Uniforms and they feel and look amazing! The total cost of the package was $26 which included a t-shirt, dry fit shorts and a gym bag. All students in Grades 4 and 5 will be required to change in to PE clothes starting January 2019. PE clothes can be ANY change of clothes, they do NOT have to be the Red Willow PE Uniforms. Some examples of appropriate PE clothes are: t-shirts, long sleeve t-shirts, shorts, jogging pants, track pants and yoga pants.
It is mandatory that all students dress appropriately for every physical education class. Students are en-couraged to not wear dresses, scarves, jeans, sweaters on the days they have Phys Ed and wear indoor (non-marking) running shoes.
Students are asked to remove all jewellery for their own safety and that of their peers. If your child wears a religious bracelet, they are kindly requested to cover it during PE class using a wristband to prevent any injuries. The Red Willow PE department will provide wrist bands for any student that requires one.
If you child has asthma or an allergy we ask that they always carry their puffer/inhaler or EPI Pen with them at all times.

Help your family stay warm this winter Canada Safety Council recommends the following tips for staying comfortable and pre-venting hypothermia when working or playing outdoors:
Wear a warm hat—most body heat is lost through the head. Children should keep an extra hat at school.
Wear layered clothing. Layers allow warm air to stay trapped around the body.
Protect your feet and hands. Wear loose waterproof boots. If the boots have liners, carry an extra pair to replace damp ones or take an extra pair of socks. Invest in thick socks to keep your feet warm. Mittens are warmer than gloves. Carry an extra pair of mittens to school, on outings, etc.
Prevent dehydration and exhaustion, which can lead to hypothermia. Drink plenty of fluids and pace yourself when doing vigorous activities.
Stay fit by exercising and eating well—people who are fit are less susceptible to hy-pothermia.
If you stay indoors, avoid moving from a hot environment to a cold one. Excessive sweating caused from an extreme change in temperature increases the risk of develop-ing hypothermia.
Eat high-energy food such as nuts and raisins. A balanced diet will also help keep you warm and healthy in the winter.
If you are travelling (on the road or in the wilderness) carry emergency supplies.
