Sharing the Changeless Christ in a Changing World!
“Look at the nations and
watch—and be utterly amazed.
For I am going to do something
in your days that you would not
believe, even if you were told.”
– Habakkuk 1:5
Last summer, my band
was hired for a weird, wild,
backwoods party in the
Lake Nebagamon,
Wisconsin (I had never
heard of it, either) area. I
had made it a good distance
north when my truck
suddenly began to quiver,
gently at first, then violently,
the radio shut itself off, and
the speedometer quit
working. Everything quit
working. When I pulled
over to investigate in
Hinckley, my beloved
Ford—complete with drum
set, two speakers, mixer,
my guitars, and my amp—
died completely.
I called my father and
asked him what to do. “Wait
there,” he said. “I’ll come
take a look.” He left
immediately, and I waited at
a gas station. I watched his
Jeep pull in, and he walked
toward me holding some
wrenches, with a smile on
his face.
“Well, I suppose it’s the
alternator,” he said, and
then without saying another
word, began to unscrew the
alternator. He handed it to
me and said, “That battery is
pretty old,” and, laughing to
himself, removed the
battery as well. While the
alternator and the battery
were still in our hands, my
father said, “I wonder if
there’s an auto parts
store around here,
somewhere.” There
was.
Sheepish and
useless as I felt, it was
a remarkable thing to
watch. Less than an
hour after he’d
arrived, I was back on
the road again, and
my truck was running
fine.
Lately I’ve really
been digging this
song called “Holy
Spirit” by Bryan &
Katie Torwalt (thank
you, Carol Naab). It’s
nothing extraordinary
for modern Christian
worship music:
shimmering, moody
guitars, reverb on the male
vocals, a woman belting out
powerful harmony, and
drums dramatic enough for
an epic film. There are a
thousand songs like that. But
I think what I love about this
particular song is its acute
awareness and recognition
of the real, living presence
of the Holy Spirit. The

FROM THE PRINCIPAL’S DESK Curt Boeder, Principal
On March 17th, Redeemer Lutheran School’s
Sonshine Singers presented their spring
spectacular titled – “For Everything There is a
Season”. Through word, drama, choreography,
and song, our Kindergarten through 3rd grade
students presented an
inspirational message of
God’s love for us.
Afterwards, a delicious
spaghetti dinner was
served through the efforts
of Jerry Isenberg. Thank
you to Mrs. Marti and to
everyone who helped to make this a time of
celebration and fellowship!

You might be interested in
learning that leaders
from several
groups that cur-
rently provide
human care in
some form have met
recently.
We have goals of taking
care of our own, improving
communication between
groups, and becoming more
organized. One day we hope
we can expand beyond our role
within our church and school to
be open to our com-
munity in providing
resources and ser-
vices.
Look forward to hear-
ing more in the future
and consider praying
about how you can get in-
volved and serve through Re-
deemer’s Human Care Ministry.

In His Grip,
Matt Mitchell
Monday, April 1,
Monday, April 15, and
Monday, April 29,
at 6:30 p.m.
verses are sparse, and at
one moment, it is as if the
singer is simply calling out
in the darkness, “Your
presence…”
Last month, I wrote on the
importance of hard work,
and of working with the
Lord—the importance of not
expecting God to do
everything for us. I stand by
that, and I even found this
gem in Haggai: “‘…Be
strong, all you people of the
land,’ declares the LORD,
‘and work. For I am with
you…’” (Haggai 2:4). But let
me elaborate: we must also
(Reflections continued from page 1) never underestimate the
power of the presence of the
Holy Spirit. We work with all
our hearts for His purpose,
and we are working with the
Author of all things. We can
always live in anticipation,
expecting our Father to do
something we would have
never believed, even if we
had been told.
The story above about my
father is something I don’t
think I will ever forget. He
acted so casual, and if there
were more words spoken
between us than I wrote
here, I do not remember
them. Someday I will write
more on the parallels
between my relationship
with my worldly father and
my heavenly Father, but for
now, I’ll remember the
story like this: it was as if
he’d expected me to run
into trouble, and he was
right there to send me back
on my way. It is always just
like that with my heavenly
Father—I call, He answers.
His presence. Like a pulse
in the air. It is like a
summer moonlight, and we
are in it.
