Every poster of Gold’s has a distintive style.

A style that succintly encompasses the theme, tone

and style of the film without revealing too much.

Less is always seen as more, more or less. He oversaw

and directed every aspect of the design process.

His collaborations with directors, producers and

designers often led to more long-lasting relationships.

Over the past 7 decades he has worked with

Hollywood’s greatest filmmakers from the liks of

Alfred Hitchcock, Client Eastwood and Ridley Scott.

Rob Peak, a commerical illustrator has collaborated

with Gold on an multidude of projects and helped

develop and shape todays modern movie poster.

His collaboration with Eastwood in particular has

stood the test of time with Gold coming out of

retirement to design the poster for Eastwood’s most

recent project, J. Edgar in 2011, his first since Mystic

River in 2003. His distinctive approach to film poster

design has influenced many and here we look at just

some of those influencial designs.
