Kodagu Institute of Medical Sciences, Madikeri conducted a CME Program on

“Cardiodiabetology” on 11-02-2018. The CME program updated the delegates on

treatment of common disease like Diabetes and Heart Disease. The CME program

was awarded two credit hours by the Karnataka Medical Council for program

schedule lasting eight hours which included only lectures.

Details of the participants :

A total of 160 delegates attended the CME from Madikeri, Hassan and Mysore.

The delegates included Physicians and General Practioners from various medical

colleges, Medical Officers District Health Office, who frequently treat the Diabetes

and Heart diseases in day to day practice.

Morning Session:

The CME program started with brief welcoming of delegates. The morning

session had one speaker who spoke on “Diabetes and Liver” by Dr. Rajegowda,

Consultant Hepato Biliary Disease, Apollo Hospital, Bannergatta Road, Bangalore.

The Second lecture was by Dr. Pramod, Consultant Neurologist, Apollo

Hospital, Bannergatta Road, Bangalore, on “Diabetic Neuropathy”.

This was followed by inaugural ceremony.

The inaugural ceremomy was presided by the Mahendra B.J, Dean and Director,

KoIMS, Madikeri,

The function was graced by Mrs. Mary Nanaiah, Chief Administrative Officer,

KoIMS, Madikeri and Dr. Cariappa K.B, Principal, KoIMS, Madikeri.

Dr. Lokesh A.J, Professor and HOD, Department of General Medicine,

Kodagu Institute of Medical Sciences,Teaching Hospital, Madikeri, welcomed the

gathering.

The invocation song was sung by a Medical Student of KoIMS, Madikeri.

The Guest of Honour Dr. Mohan Appaji, IMA President, Madikeri,

congratulated the Institute for conducting the CME Program which is aimed at

updating the Doctors.

The Presidential Address by Dr. Mahendra B.J, Dean and Director, Kodagu

Institute of Medical Sciences, Madikeri stressed upon the importance of

conducting CME on regular basis.

The CME program continued following the inaugural ceremony. Dr

Manjunatha Shetty, Professor and HOD of Nephrology, JSS Medical College,

Mysore, continued the lecture on “Chronic Kidney Disease(CKD)”.

The next lecture was by Dr. Rajesh Bhat U, Associate Professor of Cardiology,

KMC Hospital, Mangalore, on “ Chest Pain in Casualty – Clinical Approach”.

The morning session concluded with participants breaking for lunch.

Afternoon Session:

The afternoon session started with a lecture on “Insulin – Newer Avatars/

Analogue” by Dr. Arun S, Associate Professor of Medicine, KMC Hospital,

Mangalore.

The second topic was on “Diabetes and Infection – All Weather friends” by

Dr. Deepak Madi, Associate Professor of Medicine, KMC Hospital, Mangalore.

The next topic was delivered by Dr. Rajesh Bhat U, Associate Professor of

Cardiology, KMC Hospital, Mangalore on “STEMI- Hear what ECG is telling

you”.

The next topic was by Dr. Pradeep, Consultant Oncologist, Apollo Hospital,

Bannergatta Road, Bangalore, on “Diabetes and Cancer”.

Dr. Harish M.K, KMC Observer, made the critical comments and briefed the

delegates about the CME program.

The CME program concluded with thank you note by organizing committee of

Kodagu Institute of Medical Sciences, Madikeri hoping to continue the academic

Endeavour.

Each session was followed by Questions and Answers.

This is followed by Valedictory and Tea break.

“Our Learned Faculty made concerted efforts to devote their time and expertise

in making CME successful”.
