Dear Admissions Committee:

I met Holly Harper in early October 2013 when I was searching for a part-time nanny for our young son, and I responded to her ‘nanny-for-hire’ ad with a request for an interview. I was immediately impressed not only by the content of her post and her many qualifications, but also by the impeccable grammar and lack of typos. She ended up having car trouble on her way to the interview, but was extremely professional about communicating clearly with me about what was going on and what time she would be available to meet. It was a good first impression.

During 2013 and 2014, she watched our son and another young boy on two days of the week. She was always very good about being on time and bringing a great attitude to the job. In fact we liked her care so much that when we expanded our home last year to build a room for our son, we built an extra room onto our house and invited her to be our live-in nanny. It’s been 6 months and she has proven to be an excellent roommate, and we all still like each other a lot. Our son loves spending time with her, and they often play music and make art together as he is starting to grow into toddlerhood.

Holly is an impressive person in several ways. She is self-motivated and always up to something fun and cool in her free time. She loves to play music and make art, and is often to be found with her nose in a book reading up on some topic that has caught her interest. She maintains healthy friendships with many different kinds of people and stays close with her family, though they do not live in Austin. She has an unusually strong sense of self for being so young, and is already delving to many kinds of self-improvement that, in my experience, most people don’t get interested in until their mid to late life.

She finds creative ways to educate and entertain our son on a regular basis, and generally likes to have fun with life. She is often dreaming up her future plans with enthusiasm. And she writes. For fun.

I believe with her thirst for knowledge and education, her sense of discipline and organization, and her desire to pursue a career that she finds meaningful and worthwhile - she will be an excellent student and a joy to any teacher that has the luck to have her in their classes. She is also absolutely a great candidate for any scholarship for which she may fit the criteria.

Should you have any further questions about Holly and our family’s relationship to her, please don’t hesitate to contact me by email at [email protected] or by phone at 512-227-4122.

Best Regards,Kaia M. Tingley
