DESCRIPTION
Reflection based on initial reading of The Wealthy Freelancer and Get a Freelance Life.
Citation preview
I have loved reading both of these books. They both have a lot to say about being a freelancer but it is
almost as if they were chosen exclusively for me. About a year ago I left a good, steady job to start
working as an independent accounting consultant. The information contained in The Wealthy
Freelancer is all information that would have been so valuable to have had about 2 years ago when I was
starting to put together my freelance career.
Secret 1 talks about really knowing what goals you have so that you know how to prioritize your work
and your life. It focuses on getting mentally prepared for when both challenges and successes arise.
Secret 2 focuses on finding clients. It gives a real step by step guide for how to find clients no matter
what kind of freelance business you are in and shows a very constructive way to deal with people who
say that what you are doing is right for them at this time.
The Ragland book focuses more specifically on being a freelance writer which I really enjoyed because
this is the direction I feel like I am heading however I know absolutely nothing about the writing
business. It talks about the challenges of freelance writing as well as gives some real good tips about
resume writing, essential items that you will need, and how to start developing contacts.
