Unnao is the Nagar Palika Parishad city in district of Unnao, UttarPradesh. The city is divided into 29 wards for which elections are heldevery 5 years. Unnao NPP has population of 177,658 of which 93,021are males while 84,637 are females as per report released by censusIndia 2011.

In ancient days this town was known as Kusapura or Kushbhawanpur after the name of its founder Kushason of Lord Rama. The historical timeline states this town being ruled by various dynasties at differenttime periods, to name a few were- Magadhas, Maurayns, Sunga, Kanishka, Guptas, Gurjara- Pratihars,Iltutmish, Sharqi Dynasty, Wajid Ali Shah. In 1856 Lord Dalhouise, the governor general deposed Wajid AliShah and annexed his territories including the district of Unnao to the British empire.On June 9, 1857 the struggle for freedom was commenced at Unnao, when the troops rose against theBritish. The people of this district whole heartedly took part in the all movements for freedom. Thedistrict achieved the long sought for independence from British rule with the whole country on August15, 1947.

INTRODUCTION

The climate of is characterized by a hot summer and a pleasant cold season. The maximum temperaturehas touched 44.7 C , while a minimum of 1.8 C has been recorded. The year may be divided into fourseasons. The average annual rainfall in the town is recorded to be 1005 mm.

Physiography:

On the basis of geology soils, topography, climate and natural vegetation the district has been sub-divided in the following three regions-I. Amethi PlainII. Ganga BasinIII. Majhai PlainThe Unnao town lies in Amethi Plain.

Natural and Economic Resources

The conventional classification of the soils here is of three types, the light loam, the sandy soil and the clay. The large areas of barren waste are striking characteristics of the district. Tahsil Unnao and Amethihave the greatest area of such land

Yes, there is provision of scientific disposal in the city. 100% of total

biodegradable waste is processed by the process. through

Composting by compost pit regularly at Households, parks(e.g weekly

process in Chandrashekhar Azad Park)

Also a scientific Landfill site has been identified for city waste disposal,
