Refusal Strategies
Sometimes you must reinforce your decision to say no.
The hardest people to say no to, are those that you care about.
Refusal Strategies SkitDirections:

2. Research a drug and use factual information in your script.
3. Be creative and entertaining4. Have a script for each actor
and your teacher5. Create an informational
poster or flier on the drug that your group selected.

Script Example
Setting: Jimmy and Promis walk up to Scott and Paula in Acacia Park.
Jimmy: “Hey Paula, hey Scott. Hey you two want to skip 5th and go smoke some weed….I’ve got some good stuff.”
Paula: NO absolutely not! (Step 1: Say no in a firm voice.)
Promis: Scott how about you, I’ve heard you’re a party boy!
Continue through the rest of the steps
Grading: 15 points
1. Preparation: Written (typed) script for teacher and all actors. (2 Points)
2. Information: 3 Factual statements about a drug of abuse.
(3 points)
3. Personal Values: 2 positive reasons not to use the drug.(2 points)
4. Each step clearly evident in the script. (5 Points)
5. Creativity: The skit was fun as well as educational. (3 points)
Poster or FlierO After researching your
drug, identify the most important information for a teen. Have at least 10 important pieces of factual information (10 points)
O Present your information in a creative but clear fashion. Creative presentation catches the attention of your audience! (5 points)
Due Date = Due Date(1) Each group will perform their refusal skills skit and present the poster or flier that was created.
(2) The due date is the due date – if members of the group are absent, the presentation will go on!!
(3)Make sure you save all of your work in a place where all group members can gain access.
(4)Your group must be ready when you enter the classroom!
