Abdul Hafiz Khashi deputy Jawzjan police chief told Pajhwok Af-ghan News that two persons named Baryali and Mohammad Afzal who were trafficking 70 kilograms of opium from the Chaharbolak district of Balkh province to Faryab province were arrested on the outskirts of Shebrghan, the capital of Jawzjan.He added the detainees planned to transfer this opium to Dawlat Abad district of Faryab province. The traffickers transferring the opi-um to an area under the Taliban control and then the militants wanted to transfer them to another area, he said.

KABUL - A major shakeup at the top level in the nascent Afghan army amid a resilient Taliban insurgency has caused shockwaves in the war-stricken country.President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani directed the retirement of more than 160 Afghan Na-tional Army (ANA) generals last week.The Kabul government has labeled this move part of the broader strategy for reforms in the security sector, and phasing out the older generation of offic-ers.“We want reforms to win the war and peace. We don’t want reforms just for the sake of re-forms.
