Jan Verkleij bought the farm "Brentano's Yvervrught" in 1914 in the Ridderbuurt near Alphen a/d Rijn.He and his wife, Maria Suidgeest had nine children. One drowned, one had a farm accident and one lived for two days only.[see their notes]Jan played the organ in the St. Bonifacius church in Alphen for 40 years and was known to be able to set the mood of the congregation through his talent of improvizing. He also composed many pieces of music. It was normal to compose a cantata for four voices for mother's birthday and then gave his children 10 minutes to learn it,(and they did !)Sadly, he died of cancer at age 62.

They left Holland together on April 19, 1949 on a freighter.They lived neart Ottawa for one year after which they settled in Strathroy Ont, where he, together with his wife Gezina raised eleven children and operated, with the help of his 9 sons, a large dairy farm.Later, a few of the sons moved together to the Listowel area and had a large dairy farm there as well.During the late '90s both farm operations were sold.Piet and Gezina retired to live in Strathroy.Piet was one of the early immigrants. Generation 2

After the war he led discussion groups while in the army, during the sixties wrote many books for the younger people about life and love and later turned his talents to the stage. He became a cabaretier.His first program was called "The laughing Church". In total he did five programs, all of them running for three or four years each. He died of cancer, declining any medical assistance. He was a realist and a dear friend.

He retired in 1999, and now plays the piano and computer. He volunteers in the community. He sang for many years in a large mixed choir.

It's called animatronics, whereby parts of their bodies are moved by electronic devices. Veronica has worked on dozens of movies, mainly in Toronto and many other locations. In 2003 she worked on the movie, "Rhinoceros Eye", where 10% of the filmtime shows her work.The movie was shown at the Toronto Fim festival. Out of 334 movies shown at the festival it received the second prize.In 2007, she started teaching art at the arts college in Dawson City, Yukon.
