• ThedevicesupportsWMAandMP3musicfileformats.ThesefilescanbetransferredfromthecomputertotheMusicfolderonthedevice.Thefilesarelocatedintheyfolderonthedevice.

5 Recording

Thedeviceoffersmanyfeaturesthatyoucanuseduringrecordingortoimprovethequalityofarecording.Usethetimerandthevoiceactivationfunctionstostartarecordingautomatically.

5.1 Recordingsettings

Beforestartingarecordingsession,settherequiredrecordingqualityandmicrophonesensitivity.Whenyourecordinenvironmentswithlotsofnoiseinthebackground(e.g.whileinacrowdorwhiletravelingbytrainorcar),youcanenablethenoisereductionfunctiontoreducethebackgroundnoise(seealsochapter8.1.3Enabling/disablingnoisereduction,page29).

Caution

• Donotremovebatteriesorrechargeablebatteriesfromthedevicewhileitisrecording.Ifyoudothis,datamaybecomedamagedorlost.Devicemalfunctionsmayalsooccur.

• Eachfoldercanstoreupto99files.Thefilesizedependsontherecordingquality(seealsochapter8.1.1Settingtherecordingquality,page28).Iftherecordingtimeorthenumberoffilesexceedstheavailablecapacity,recordingstopsandamessageisdisplayed.Youcannotmakeanymorerecordings.Deletetherecordingswhichyounolongerrequire,orconnectthedevicetoacomputerandtransferthefilestoyourcomputer.

• Replaceorrechargethebatteriesbeforestartingalongrecordingsession.

5.1.1 Recordingusinganexternalmicrophone

Ifyouconnectanexternalmicrophonetothedevice,therecordingsourcewillswitchautomaticallyandthedevice'smicrophonewillbeturnedoff.

5.2 Startingrecordingautomatically

Youhavetwooptionstostartautomaticrecording:Timerfunctionandvoiceactivation.

5.2.1 Usingthetimerfunction

Youcanusethisfunctiontostartarecordingataspecifieddateandtime.Thedevicecanrecordusingthebuilt-inmicrophoneoranexternalmicrophone.
