In his current position as Senior Partner with Jerold Panas, Linzy & Partners, Jay Frost brings over 25 years’ experience in discovering and exploring major fundraising opportunities for thousands of nonprofits. He has played a leadership role in providing donor research and analysis for the fundraising world. These include serving as President/CEO at FundraisingInfo.com and Chief Strategy Officer at WealthEngine. He has been described by industry leaders as “a beacon of light and inspiration in the increasingly critical field of international fundraising and philanthropy.”
A member of Kent State University’s Institutional Advancement team since 1999, Mindy Aleman, CFRE, APR, joined the Center for Gift & Estate Planning in 2005 and was promoted to Assistant VP in 2015. Mindy has led successful campaigns for the Kent State University Museum and School of Fashion Design and Merchandising, the College of Business Administration, the College of Arts and Sciences, and the Cleveland Urban Design Collaborative. Mindy provides training through Gift Planning seminars and has authored articles for national gift planning publications.
Barbara Harrington, founder of Sponsorship Plus, has created and implemented ethical sponsorship programs for scores of clients in markets across the country from Big Brothers Big Sisters in Pennsylvania to the Indianapolis Museum of Art to the Minnesota State Fair. Clients often credit her Integrated Sponsorship Path as the key to aligning real-world solutions for sustainable sponsorship success. She works closely with clients to create sponsorship programs that deliver results to the organization as well as drive sales for corporate decision-makers.
Laura MacDonald, CFRE, has more than 25 years’ experience in nonprofit leadership, fundraising, and philanthropy. Prior to establishing Benefactor Group, Laura was Chief Development Officer at The Ohio State University’s Wexner Center for the Arts, where she helped the organization secure its largest-ever corporate sponsorship and foundation grant and highest membership. She chairs the editorial review board for Giving USA: The Annual Report on Philanthropy. She was named the Central Ohio Chapter’s “Fundraising Professional of the Year” in 2007.
Dan Shephard, CFRE, is Principal of The Shephard Group, which provides training and consulting services focusing on the skill sets most valuable to frontline fundraisers. Dan knows from personal experience the value to the major gift planner of being equipped with both the competence and the confidence to engage a potential donor in a discussion that will result in a significant gift commitment. Previously, he served as Planned Giving Director for the Florida State University Foundation. He is the author of Charitable Choices – How to Avoid Donor’s Remorse.
Dave Tinker, CFRE, is Vice President of Advancement at ACHIEVA and is an adjunct professor of informatics at Muskingum University’s Master of Information Strategy, Systems and Technology program. He is a certified AFP Master Trainer. He received the Outstanding Fund Raising Executive Award from the AFP Western PA chapter in 2013. Dave not only received a Master of Public Affairs with a concentration in Nonprofit Management from the Lilly Family School of Philanthropy at Indiana University, but has also written curriculum for the school.
