Pack up the picnic basket and load the lawn chairs for an evening of entertainment at the Arboretum. Sit back and relax with a glass of wine as you enjoy an open-air concert in the beautiful Fountain Garden. Woodsong concerts are family friendly and a great way to spend a summer evening enjoying the music surrounded by garden splendor. Doors open at 4pm so you have plenty of time to explore the gardens and grounds before the concert starts at 6pm. All concerts are held outdoors so don’t forget the bug spray!

The classes will take place in the Children’s Garden gazebo and feature brand new paintings of Klehm’s very own peonies (June) and 300-year-old Bur Oak (August). We’ll provide everything you need – just bring your friends and a bottle of wine! Admission: $30 for members | $35 for non-members June tickets available starting Friday, May 8 | August tickets available starting Wednesday, July 8 | Space is limited; pre-registration required | 21+

Friday, September 18, 7pm - 9pmWine Tasting & Luminary WalkTake a stroll through our illuminated paths while enjoying a twilight wine tasting in the beautiful Fountain Garden. Friday, April 24, 6:30pmArbor Dash 5K Celebrate Arbor Day with a run through the woods! The 2nd annual Arbor Dash is a non-competitive fun run through Klehm’s 155 acres of trees and gardens at twilight. A brand new course that’s part road race, part trail run, the Arbor Dash is open to runners and walkers of all ages and fitness levels. In addition to a t-shirt, free passes to the garden and a reusable grocery bag, every participant goes home with their own seedling to help keep the forest in the Forest City.Registration prior to April 17: $15 for members and teams of 10 | $20 non-members Registration after April 17 or the day of the race: $25 for everyone

Sunday, May 17, 1pm – 4pm Community Dog WalkThe Community Dog Walk is a casual gathering for Rockford canines and the people who love them. There won’t be any formal programs, but you can spread the puppy love by stopping by the Visitor Center to make a donation to Kibble Korner, Rockford’s pet food pantry. Dogs must be leashed and well-behaved. Admission: $3 adults | $2 for seniors & kids | free for Klehm members & dogs

May-October Backpack ToursChoose from three (grades K-2 or grades 3-5) adventure themes. Each tour includes Garden Adventure Packs (backpacks) containing allthe curriculum and supplies needed for a one hour self-guided tour. Tours are offered Monday through Friday, April thru October. $5 per student

We also offer self-guided tours for older students covering our full property. $3 per student

Music in the GardenSpecial Events •Botanica: A Gardener’s LuncheonWEDNESDAY, APRIL 15, 10am - 1:30pmHelp us welcome spring at Botanica 2015! This year’s luncheon will feature speaker Melinda Myers, a nationally renowned gardening expert and author specializing in Midwestern gardening. Melinda will show you how transforming an empty lot into a beautiful landscape or an overgrown struggling garden into a colorful centerpiece can be easier and more affordable than you think. Start with a plan, recycle items into garden art, add planters and feeders, share a few plants, phase in changes and give yourself some time. We’ll explore all of these things and more to renew your landscape. Before the luncheon Kathryn Newman, owner of MiniatureGardenShoppe.com, will present a demonstration on small-scale design entitled “Gardening in Miniature”. SATURDAY, MAY 9, 9am – 4pm | SUNDAY, MAY 10, 9am – 2pmPlan to spend time Mother’s Day weekend shopping for this year’s garden stock. Choose from hundreds of colorful plants, including unique varieties from local nurseries. Afterwards, you’re welcome to stroll the beautiful Klehm grounds to see what’s blooming. Free admission. Donations of plants are always welcome!

SUNDAY, JULY 19, 11am - 6pm Art on the Lawn, a Rockford tradition since 2000, is moving to a new home at Klehm Arboretum. The juried fine art show will feature a wide variety of fine art in many media available to purchase: photograph, ceramics, fiber/paper, glass, mixed media, painting, sculpture, wearable art and more. Admission includes entrance to the garden for the day and that evening’s Woodsong concert, “The Jimmys”, starting at 6pm. Admission: $5 for adults | children 12 and under free

Twilight in the GardenSATURDAY, AUGUST 29, 5pm – 10pm

Twilight in the Garden is an opportunity for Rockford to celebrate great local foods and wonderful wines while supporting the programs, gardens, collections and educational opportunities that make Klehm Arboretum a cornerstone of Stateline gardening culture. Enjoy an upscale yet relaxed evening in Klehm’s unique gardens with a five-course gourmet meal and wine pairings.

The chef and sommelier will introduce each course, explaining where the locally-sourced ingredients came from, how they were prepared and how the wine complements the dish. Join us for a truly unique farm-to-table experience that will help Klehm remain a vibrant and essential part of the Rockford community for years to come. $100 per person
