EXPLORE ScoresThe EXPLORE test is used to place students into
classes here at Bloom High School.
The test was given at our feeder schools in January
Our 2nd make-up test will be given at Bloom High School on Wednesday, June 11th at 8am
ALL incoming freshmen must take the EXPLORE exam
What Do YOUR Explore Scores Mean?
Your scores are between 1 (the lowest score you can receive) and 25 (the highest score you can
receive) even though you answered a lot more than 25 questions on the EXPLORE test! Your Scores
English 13 Math 10 Reading 11 Science 15 COMPOSITE 12.25
The following is a list of the EXPLORE National Averages to compare your EXPLORE score to:

The EXPLORE includes four multiple-choice tests:

Your score indicates the SCALED score that was earned in each of the four tests taken during the Bloom Entrance Exam.
The Explore “Essay” exam is not part of the Bloom Entrance Exam. Your Composite Score is simply the average of your test scores in English, Mathematics, Reading, and Science.

Most Freshmen take 5 classes, the equivalent of 5 credits and will begin school at 8:40 am. Those of you involved in Band or Choir will have to take Health during “Early Bird” for one semester. Early Bird classes run Monday- Friday, 7:35 am- 8:35.

We also have Honors courses for every core academic area, for every grade level. You are
placed into these course by teacher recommendation.
Early College Initiative Program- ECIRecently, we have partnered with Prairie
State College to add additional educational opportunities for our students
We have 30 students, district-wide, taking college courses at PSC during the school day.
That means, 30 students will have already have college credit when they graduate from high school!
Next year, the numbers are even larger!

One of the best ways to be successful at Bloom High School is to get involved in school
activities! Whether it is a sport or a club, get involved!

REGISTER NOW!If you turn in all of your registration
materials before June 1st, you will receive $25 dollars off of the $175 registration fee!
You can turn in a copy of the 8th grade diploma and physical and dental forms over the summer.
This will save you from having to wait in the long lines at our Summer registration!
Summer REFS ProgramWhat is it?REFS is a 6 week summer program designed to help improve reading skills for incoming freshmen. One semester credit will be earned!
Who should come?All students who earn a score of 10 or
below in the Explore Reading and English test or any student who would like to advance their high school reading skills to be more successful in their freshman year.
Summer RAMP ProgramWhat is it?RAMP is a 6 week summer program designed to help improve math skills for incoming freshmen. One semester credit will be earned!
Who should come?Students who earn a score of 14 or below in Math or any student who would like to improve your math skills to be more successful in their freshman Algebra class.
