Hello Jerry,

I am writing to commend the work of Mary, one of the talented associates in your Yonkers, NY store.

I came in on Thursday evening looking for: 1) some very specific maps to cover the AT section hike I was starting the

following morning, 2) some additional freeze dried food options and 3) a waterproof case for my iPhone 6 plus.

Not only was Mary extremely attentive and knowledgeable in helping me quickly find the exact products that fit my

needs but she seemed genuinely excited to hear about the trip that I had planned. I was in and out of the store in less

than 20 minutes; note that this experience contrasted significantly to my experience at DICK'S Sporting Goods next door,

just a few minutes before coming to REI. At Dick’s, I ending up wandering around for several minutes before I found a

sales associate who had literally zero product knowledge and who wasn’t able to answer basic product availability

questions even after checking with his colleagues via their in-store communication system.

I don’t know what it is about REI that attracts such customer-oriented and knowledgeable salespeople but want you to

know that your Yonkers store is doing a terrific job in hiring and retaining talented people like Mary. She made me feel

like a valued customer in a very authentic way, which is pretty unusual these days.

Please be sure to pass along this note to the Yonkers store manager so that Mary can receive the appropriate

recognition for a job well done.
