These bulls have been developed on a high roughage, growing ration, with soundness and longevity in mind. At Reid Angus we realize that this is not a race - the bulls are not pushed - they are developed, so that they last for many years and are able to travel & work under the most demanding conditions. We are constantly applying selection pressure to our genetics so that we can move to greater efficiency in beef production, something that we can all capitalize on.

Sometimes in life you have the good fortune to meet someone who is a “Game Changer”. Cesar Duarte, the Gov-ernor of Chihuahua,

Mexico is a “Game Changer”. Governor Duarte was in Calgary to complete a deal with Trans Canada Pipe-line(TCPL) for pipeline construction and an Technical Training Centre. The Governor & the Minister of Edu-cation like the combination of economics & education. They both believe “that education equals opportunity”.

Although Governor Duarte & his group were in Calgary on Chihuahua State - TCPL business; the Governor’s real passion is Angus cattle, and he wanted to visit a Purebred Angus operation close to Calgary. We con-nected and spent an interesting afternoon & evening together discussing the Angus breed. He was very knowledgable & had a good understanding of his own ranching operation. When the Governor & his group(8) arrived, he was wearing a “White Stetson” - he had been

presented the White Hat by Mayor Naheed Nenshi I thought for his economic contribution. Later that evening at dinner I was chatting with the Chihuahua State Minister of Education and he told me that the Governor had been presented the “White Hat” for his Humanitarian efforts. When Governor Du-arte was elected he vowed to clean up the state drug problem. There were 30 homicides a day, 1000 people a month lost their lives to the drug trade. That was 4 1/2 yrs ago when Governor Duarte was elected, now there are 3 homicides a month. His success came at a very high cost, the Drug Cartels murdered his best friend, his nephew, and when he wouldn’t back down they killed the Chief of Police & his 7 year old son. I asked Governor Duarte later in the evening where he found the strength & courage to face this problem everyday ? Through the translator he told me he told himself everyday -

And to think that the Angus cow brought us together. As much as we are in the Cattle Business, we are in the People Business too! Angus cattle allowed me to meet - Cesar Duarte - a “Game Changer”.
