About These Release Notes

This document contains a review of the new features and latest modifications for My Vision

Express Version 10.0. These are all subject to change and their inclusion in these Release

Notes does not guarantee that they will be part of the final release for this version. This

document was last reviewed on December 11, 2012.

Upgrading to Version 10.0

The upgrade to My Vision Express Version 10.0 from previous versions implies a long list of

changes which, for the most part, are outlined in these Release Notes. Before you perform

this upgrade, you should read this document thoroughly and understand how the changes

in this new version of My Vision Express will impact your usage of the software and your

practice in general.

Contact the My Vision Express support team for help during the upgrade process at 877-

882-7456 (Option 3). Please schedule your upgrade during support hours (Mon. – Fri. 8:30

AM – 7:00 PM) so that you have help available if you run into any issue.

Internet Connection Required

Starting with My Vision Express Version 10.0, you will need an Internet connection to run the

application. The software will periodically perform a license check which would fail without

Internet connectivity. Also, many of the new features coming in this version require Internet

access. Including many of those designed to help you qualify as a “meaningful user” under

the EHR Incentive Program for Medicare/Medicaid.

Microsoft SQL Server

Version 10.0 of My Vision Express requires Microsoft SQL Server 2008 R2 to be installed in your

server. If you do not have this version of SQL installed please contact our support

department before upgrading.

Insurance

To minimize user error during an Authorization request for selected insurance plans we have

introduced the following:

VSP insurance plan entries will always be displayed first on the list of insurance

companies listed for the patient.

User will be prompted with the following message "Current Insurance not a VSP

insurance company" when an authorization is attempted to be pulled for a non-VSP

insurance company.

Family Tab

The next appointment column located in the Family Tab of the Patient profile will now

display the Next active appointment based on the following status set on the appointment.

Inventory

Frames

The Frame transaction screen has been updated with a location drop-down allowing the

user to select the location the transaction will be applied.

Open a Frame Inventory item

Click on Add

Click on Location field and select the location

Enter in other details

Click OK

Reports

Meaningful Use

The Meaningful Use Report has been updated with the capability of pulling results for one

location.

Go to File > Reports > Meaningful Use

Select your physician

Select the date range

Check box Current Location Only

If the Current Location Only box is not selected the report will pull results for

all locations the physician has an association.

Exams

Tests

The auto-populate feature from Findings OD to Findings OS and Reliability OD to Reliability

OS has been removed to allow the user to have control over data entry in the case where

Finding notes are different from OD to OS.

The user will now simply click on the Arrow button to copy finding notes from OD to

OS at their discretion.


Medications

The Newcrop Rx interface has been updated to allow the user to pull past medication

history into the patients’ record in My Vision Express.

Medication will appear in the Medications Tab of the Health Tab crossed out

signifying it is an inactive prescription.

Active prescriptions will continue to display as normal until they become inactive.


CCD Creation

The Generate CCD button located in the Assessment Tab of the Exam module will now

direct the user to the HL7 Tab of the Health Tab of the Exam module.


CCD

The CCD upload button located in the HL7 CCD/CCR Tab of the Health Tab will now

prompt the user before uploading the CCD file. This will ensure that the correct CCD file is

being selected prior to the actual upload beginning.

Go to Exam > Health > HL7 CCD/CCR

Click Upload button

Click Yes button to begin upload

Fixes & Other Enhancements

Ticket numbers identified in Red are fixes for issues reported by our users, while tickets identified in

Blue are small enhancements requested by our users.

Patients

CYI-736-94756 Fixed display problem where a date was appearing on the top right of a

spectacle lens print out.

KKL-252-51268 Fixed issue where an interaction in the patient profile set as alert was not

appearing when setting up an appointment for the patient.

NBA-799-97899 Fixed issue where the Color field was not printing for a Hard Contact Lens

Rx Print from the Patient module and the Exam module.


VKC-506-68372 Fixed problem where the UPC for the OS Contact Lens selected on an

exam was not being transferred over to the Patient Profile when select

option to transfer to Patient RX in Exam module.

Inventory

RPN-862-53298 Fixed validation error popup when user clears the Reorder Point & Max

Inventory columns in the Locations Tab of the Frames details.

Orders

OCM-972-74252 Fixed error where the Order Status Update screen was duplicating orders

in the list.

JJW-338-15321 The CL Fitting copay line item will not populate when adding a CL Fitting

charge to invoice along with an Exam copay in the order Patient Tab.

MTN-748-12438 Patient receipt print out has been updated to "not" reflect next

appointment date if the status of the appointment is Cancelled or

Rescheduled.

ISW-888-43306 Spectacle Lens Import list has been updated to include Option Code BA

& BD.

VKK-148-52232 Fixed a price refresh issue when a Spectacle Lens order with a spectacle

lens item setup as pair is copied to a new order. The new order would

reflect the incorrect price of the spectacle lenses.

NWZ-872-26950 Fixed a display problem with the tax names displaying incorrectly on a

patient receipt. The tax names where being displayed alphabetically

which would cause the patient receipt to display the wrong tax name

regardless of it having a value of (0.00)

AAG-924-94818 The bundled receipt will now consider write-offs when applied on the line

item of an order.

TWH-991-92429 Addressed problem where the Contact Lens Alternate CPT code was not

transferring from Fee Schedule to order.


JDE-924-10493 Fixed a discrepancy where the Frame Chargeback was not being

considered in the insurance receipt causing an incorrect insurance

balance in the Insurance receipt.

FQS-728-53033 The Lab receipt for Contact Lens Type orders will now show the Warranty

checkbox from the Contact Lens Tab of the order.

HRA-639-17919 The Axis in Contact Lens order will no longer be highlighted in red when

Cylinder is set to D.S.


Exams

LDY-184-71366 Fixed an error when attempting to run education from the Exam module.

GOU-176-11242 Fixed an error where when attempting to Export the HL7 file from the

Health Tab > Problem List the program would close.

KCU-525-64109 Fixed a trigger that would set a default value in the Color Vision Test field

of the Entrance tab when the user clicked on the Education button in the

Assessment tab.

ZXS-457-38078 Fixed an error when creating new Reasons for Test options for Test Details

in the Tests tab of the EMR Module. New "Reason for Test" entries were not

showing up when click on the ellipses button for multiple selection.

ZDK-332-51323 Addressed sporadic issue when selecting Education Provided it was

required for the user to run the selected Education material so the

numerator in the Meaningful Use report was triggered to reflect the

Education Provided.

Moving forward user is just required to select the Education

Provided checkbox for the numerator to be affected in the

Meaningful Use Report.


ILK-431-81777 The Exam Education screen from the Assessment tab in the Exam has

been outfitted with an Education Provided checkbox. This option interacts

with the Meaningful Use Wizard satisfying some of the Menu Objective

requirements.

Reports

EJG-725-49756 The Reorder report has been updated to consider items that have been

already added to a Purchase Order. For example, if you run your reorder

report and it displays 10 are set to be reordered, user creates a Purchase

Order for 5, when you run the report the second time the report will

display a total of 5 to be reordered for the item.

JJP-110-52723 Fixed issue where the inventory counts were not populating when using

the Auto Create option in the Purchase Order.

WSR-698-31731 Fixed a discrepancy that caused the Orders Summary Report and Sales

and Payment Summary report to not match when being queried for the

same date ranges.

LMY-526-32252 Adjusted report to take into consideration frames on order when

calculating reorder quantity range against frame quantities. The report will

now take into consideration frames already on order.


JDA-369-89093 The Frame Inventory Transactions report will include Transaction Type as

an available filter option from the Filter Criteria screen.

Letters

WZA-297-93967 Fixed error with the Spelling button when emailing a letter to a patient.

LQW-829-99164 Merge field (exam_slens_final_notes) which pulls notes from the final

spectacle lens rx in the exam will now only pull notes for the first Final

Spectacle Lens Rx. In the past it would pull all notes regardless of the type

of Rx.

HRT-599-30032 The prescription type letters will now include the {DOSAGENUMBERFIELD}

merge field. This field will allow the user to pull the dosage number noted

in the prescription.


ILD-184-18636 Fixed error popup when selecting to share a letter in the letters module by

clicking Share with Other Users checkbox.

Setup

QVU-334-94640 The Active Directory feature has been updated to only lock the following

fields in the employee setup.

First Name

Last Name

Security Group

User ID

Password

Confirm Password

Session Domain

Session User Name

This will allow the administrator to make modifications to the remainder of

the fields when needed.


XKT-419-41558 Fixed missing “days” field for the Automatic Purge option in the Audit tab.

VWN-463-87524 The chargeback fields in the Insurance Fee Schedule will now restrict

positive amounts being entered into the field.

User will receive a prompt advising "The Chargeback value must be

a zero or negative." when attempting to enter in a positive value.

This is consistent with the behavior of the Chargeback fields at the

order level.

AJC-910-80021 Fixed ability to copy Contact Inventory from one location to another from

the Company information screen.


Customizer

ETC-735-69761 Report – Orders by Item Type will have available the ‘orders.auth_id’ field.

This field will allow the user to pull the Authorization ID noted in the Ins

Authorization field in an order.

Patient Portal

ZJX-223-27108 Prescription information imported from the Patient Portal to My Vision

Express will be automatically set as an Outside Rx. This way the user will

not be prompted to select a physician when viewing prescription

information within My Vision Express.
