WORKING WHILE STUDYINGAs a student visa holder, you may work up to 40 hours per fortnight while your course is in session and unlimited hours during term breaks. However, you need to obtain a Tax File Number (TFN). The Australian Tax Office provides information on how to file for a TFN.

IELTS PREPREATION AND TEST CENTRE If you need to prepare for the IELTS exam, the CQUEnglish language centre in Rockhampton North runs IELTS preparation classes. Classes are organised around the contents of a typical IELTS exam and gives you the opportunity to practise your exam skills using IELTS test style materials. The CQUEnglish centre at Rockhampton North is an authorised IELTS Test Centre. Exams are held once a month in Rockhampton and every two months in Mackay and Bundaberg.

Our entry requirements ensure you are suitably prepared for your course at CQUniversity and may vary by course. You will need to meet the minimum Masters by research academic and English requirements to gain entry into our courses. ADMISSION PROCESS
DIRECT TO CQUNIVERSITY THROUGH A CQUNIVERSITY AGENT
SUBMIT YOUR APPLICATION
Apply online through iStart at www.cqu.edu.au/international-apply.There is no application fee.
An agent can assist with lodgement of your application. To locate a CQUniversity agent in your home country visit www.cqu.edu.au/agents.
TRACK YOUR APPLICATION
You will be provided with a username and password in an acknowledgement email. Use these details to login to iStart and track the progress of your application.
Your appointed agent will provide you with updates on the progress of your application.
ACCEPT YOUR OFFER
To accept your offer, log in to iStart. Check that all details including your full name, course and commencement date are correct in your Letter of Offer.
You must make payment and also show proof, such as a receipt for OSHC.
If you have a conditional offer, you also need to meet these conditions as outlined on the offer. Please submit any outstanding documents through iStart.
Your appointed agent will receive notification on the outcome of your application. They will contact you to provide you with guidance on how to accept your offer.
RECEIVE YOUR CONFIRMATION OF ENROLMENT
After CQUniversity has received your International Student Contract, processed your payment and all conditions if any have been met, we will issue and email a Confirmation of Enrolment (COE) to you or your agent (if an agent assisted you with your application).
APPLY FOR YOUR STUDENT VISA
Once you receive your COE, lodge an application for your student visa through DIBP at www.border.gov.au immediately.
PREPARE FOR YOUR ARRIVAL
Book your flights and temporary accommodation prior to leaving your home country. We also recommend that you have access to funds of approximately AU$1500 to AU$2000 to support yourself when you first arrive.
ATTEND ENROLMENT
Prior to orientation, you must attend enrolment. Enrolment is conducted on campus. During enrolment, you will select units associated with your course and officially enrol in those units at the University.
ATTEND ORIENTATION
Orientation is a compulsory activity for all international students and you should aim to arrive in Australia to attend this. It is usually held in the week prior to term starting.
Orientation is the perfect opportunity to familiarise yourself with the campus and facilities nearby, as well as get to know your lecturers and fellow students. For orientation dates and for more information visit www.cqu.edu.au/arrival-welcome.

SCHOLARSHIPS
Scholarships are available to international students wishing to undertake a coursework or research higher degree at CQUniversity in 2018. You may also be eligible for scholarships funded by the Australian government. We encourage you to check all scholarship options that you may be eligible for.
CQUNIVERSITY INTERNATIONAL STUDENT SCHOLARSHIPThe International Student Scholarship is a general scholarship and you may choose your preferred course and study location for this scholarship.
Eligibility International students wishing to undertake a postgraduate degree by coursework at CQUniversity are eligible for this scholarship. Applicants must have attained an overall grade of 75 per cent in their previous studies.
Scholarship Value20 per cent reduction in tuition fees for the course duration provided the required overall grade is maintained.
How to ApplyApplications for the International Student Scholarship must be made when applying for your academic course through iStart, our online application system. When you apply for your preferred course, please indicate that you would like to apply for the International Student Scholarship.
Example of Scholarship ValueConnor is studying the Master of Information Technology course at CQUniversity and has been awarded the International Student Scholarship. Provided he maintains the overall grade required to maintain the scholarship throughout his course duration, he would have saved AU$10 068.
