INTRODUCTION

West Chester University's Religious Life Council was formed to help meet the spiritual needs of students

through a cooperative working relationship between religious organizations and the University. The mission of

the group is based on the belief that a student's spiritual life is an important aspect of overall intellectual and

personal development.

The council, comprised of representatives from campus religious student organizations, representatives

from community denominations serving WCU students, and University administrators, coordinates a variety of

functions. The goals of the council are as follows:

• To develop a communications network between the University and religious organizations for the

purpose of sharing information about services and programs;

• To develop a comprehensive program to acquaint students with religious organizations on the campus

and in the community, and

• To serve as a resource group for the University on matters of a religious nature.

In an effort to acquaint the University community with the many and varied religious services and programs

offered both on and off campus, the Religious Life Council, under the auspices of the Division of Student

Affairs, has developed this directory. It is the council's hope that the following information will be of value to

those seeking affiliation with a particular religious denomination and/or involvement with a religious student

organization.

Cru: Campus Crusade for Christ:

Our purpose is to help launch and build movements of spiritual multiplication on college campuses so that

everyone will know someone who truly follows Jesus Christ. We believe that a relationship with God through

Jesus Christ provides the hope and purpose in life that people are seeking. College students often find

themselves in an environment that is tearing away at their moral and spiritual stability. They can feel trapped by

the pressures of academic life and the deep need to be accepted by their peers. All of this can add up to a college

career filled with anxiety, superficial relationships and fear of the future. Jesus offers today's students something

different. In the Bible, Jesus says, "I came that they might have life, and might have it abundantly." (John

10:10). When students begin a relationship with God, they find purpose and meaning, and they experience life

the way that God intended.
