All: Gather us together this Reformation Sunday, O God,
that we may celebrate the witness of our forefathers and
foremothers and the courage that gave birth to the
Reformation. Teach us how to honor the saints of God in ages
past as well as in our present days. May the conviction of your
grace written on their hearts be one that forms our own faith.
Inspire us in the continuing reformation of the church and be
present to us in your Word and Sacrament. In Christ’s name
we pray. Amen.

Commemorating the 500th Anniversary
of the Reformation and
Celebrating the Church Still Reforming The year 2017 marks 500 years since a stubborn monk and towering
thinker, Martin Luther, published his 95 theses or complaints against
the Catholic Church and launched the Protestant Reformation, a
momentous religious revolution whose consequences we still live with
today. Five centuries on is an exciting time to reflect on what we bring
forward from the past that strengthens us and future generations for the
coming 500 years of ministry of the gospel of Christ. Today we will
celebrate the 500th anniversary of the Reformation and celebrate the future ministry of the church ahead. We
have a bagpiper who will help lead us in worship and our children and youth will be presented with bibles. In
times of crisis, challenge, conflict, growth and peace—then and now—God calls us to be transformed by the
Word and Spirit.
PRESENTATION OF BIBLES On this Reformation Sunday, a day in which we remember in part, Martin Luther’s work to empower all to be
able to read God’s Word, we are presenting our young people with Bibles:

QUEEN’S TEA IN CELEBRATION OF
THE PROTESTANT REFORMATION’S 500th ANNIVERSARY

New Life Center
A Queen’s Tea, hosted by Barbara Rowland and Carol Stacy, will be served following the worship service
today in the New Life Center to commemorate the Reformation’s 500th Anniversary.
Bring your appetite for it will be a full Queen’s tea including delicious scones served with Devonshire clotted
cream, lemon curd, and assorted fruit spreads; a variety of finger sandwiches; delectable desserts; tea, iced tea,
and lemon water.

to Laishley Crab House in Punta Gorda for lunch. After lunch we will visit the Vietnam Memorial Wall next door in

MEDICARE EVENT

MacDonald Hall
The Medicare Open Enrollment period, also known as the Annual Election Period, occurs each year starting
Oct.15th through Dec.7th. This is a perfect time to review your medication list and Part D Prescription Drug
coverage.
Your medications may have changed. The 2018 Prescription Drug Plans may differ. On Thursday,
November 9th from 10:00 a.m.-3:30p.m. in MacDonald Hall we will have counselors from SHINE Program and
Department of Elder Affairs to assist you with stand alone Part D Prescription Plan options or a Medicare
Advantage Plan (HMO, PPO).
Bring a list of your prescription drugs and your Medicare Card.
