Their role is to raise awareness and celebrate the culture and history of different groups. They provide information and guidance, organise events and engage staff from across the organisation to provide opportunities for personal development. To join any of the networks you do not have to identify as that characteristic, you simply have to support the aims of the group. Positive and mutually respectful relationships at work are crucial to wellbeing. We adopt a zero tolerance approach to bullying and harassment and seek to actively promote diversity and inclusion throughout St Mungo’s. This leaflet gives an outline of sources of support within St Mungo’s that are open for all staff to access.

Sources of support at St Mungo’s Human Resources Team (HR) HR offers support and guidance to all staff throughout an employee’s journey from recruitment to exit. HR covers a wide range of specialist areas and can advise on recruitment, pay and contractual matters and all policies and procedures relating to employment.

Learning and Development Team (L&D) The L&D Team supports all aspects of the learning and development of our staff and lead on implementing our health and wellbeing strategy. The L&D team also oversee our mentoring scheme which is a fantastic way to focus on your personal and professional development at work.

Health and Safety Team The Health and Safety Team provides an expert advisory service to all managers and staff on any aspect of health and safety, as well as delivering our staff and manager health and safety training programmes.

Occupational Health The occupational health service (OHS) offers advice regarding health, safety and wellbeing at work. They work alongside St Mungo’s to help ensure your working environment is safe and offers a range of services including:

Assessing fitness to work following illness or injury or prior to taking up a new post.

Offering advice and information on dealing with the impact of work on health.

Advising on managing any disabilities or impairments at work.

Whilst the OHS works alongside St Mungo’s, the service is strictly confidential and only the OHS staff have access to any health records.

Employee Assistance Programme The Employee Assistance Programme is on-hand 24/7 to offer free confidential care and support to St Mungo’s staff. Staff can access a wide range of advice, information and support including, but not limited to:

Support in tackling stress, anxiety and depression including access to BACP accredited counsellors, mindfulness and 24/7 telephone support.

In house lawyers and accountants to give legal and financial advice.

Health and wellbeing support for example smoking cessation.

Money management. Career coaching and personal

and professional development advice.

Guidance around caring including childcare, elderly care or for people with disabilities.

There is no limit to the amount of calls an employee can make, it is accessible 24/7 and completely confidential.

Username: Password: Workplace Supporters Workplace Supporters are trained St Mungo’s staff who provide confidential peer support and a listening service to their colleagues. They offer an additional avenue of practical and emotional support for all staff and staff may contact them for a range of reasons including work related stress, problems outside of work or if they witness or experience bullying and harassment. Workplace Supporters can signpost staff to sources of support and can advise on how to address instances of bullying and harassment in a constructive and effective way.

Diversity and Inclusion Allies Every service should have an allocated, named Diversity and Inclusion Ally. Their role is to champion diversity and inclusion within their areas of work, help to raise awareness, celebrate events and promote best practice. They can also be a source of support in challenging any discriminatory language or behaviour in the workplace. You should be introduced to your Diversity and Inclusion Ally as part of your induction.
