Preliminaries

The common operating procedures in this guide are given as guidelines only. For some Honeywell Rapid Eye™ Multi-Media units, some of the procedures may not apply. If you require assistance in troubleshooting your system, contact Honeywell Video Systems Technical Support, at 1 (800) 796-2288.

Prerequisites

Before using the common operating procedures in this guide, the following prerequisites need to be completed.

Unit and Hardware

The Rapid Eye unit is installed, connected to one camera or more, and all components are powered.

For more information, see the Unit Installation Instructions, K14390.

Rapid Eye System Administrator

Your Rapid Eye System Administrator has:

• Used Admin software to create a Rapid Eye database, and user accounts for the operators of the Rapid Eye units.

• Used View software to run a Maintenance session and to configure the unit for cameras, PTZ cameras, video recording, alarms, live-alarm session, motion events and audio. For example, a unit can be configured to not record video, in which case the procedures in Starting a Retrieval Session, p. 11, may not apply.

For more information about Maintenance sessions, see the System Administrator’s Guide, K14392.

Preliminaries

Operator’s Workstation

• The Rapid Eye View software is installed on the Operator’s workstation.

• The connection from the operator’s PC to the unit —network, dial-up or direct—is working.

For more information about connections, see the System Administrator’s Guide, K14392.

Using Cameras that Pan, Tilt and Zoom

Tip! A camera window for PTZ cameras shows “PTZ” in its title bar.

Pan and Tilt: Pull-control

Pan / Tilt. Place the mouse pointer on the video picture of a PTZ camera window, then click and drag the mouse. A Pull-control appears in the camera window, overlaid on the video, and the camera pans and tilts in that direction. To stop the panning and tilting, release the mouse button; the Pull-control disappears.

Tip! Lengthen the Pull-control to speed-up panning or tilting.

If a Pull-control is not displayed when you click and drag the mouse, the video player is set to Zonal. The Zonal PTZ control is explained next, on page 10.

Switching to Pull control from Zonal

1. In the Player’s View menu, select Options.

2. Click Zonal PTZ Control Mode to remove the check mark next to it.

A Pull-control appears when the mouse is dragged.
