THERenaissance Review

John Evans was born in Hawthorn, South Carolina. During John’s childhood, his family moved to Philadelphia when his father began working for the Pennsylvania Railroad. John grew up around 38th and Haverford, and then attended Overbrook High School. After High School, he joined the United States Air Force and was sent to fight in the Korean War. After returning home, John worked as a pipefitter for over 20 years. He always enjoyed illustration and even spent some time as a commercial artist following his time as a pipefitter. Mr. Evans has four daughters, two granddaughters, and one grandson, all of which are local to the Philadelphia Area. John is a self-proclaimed Philadelphia super-fan. He loves talking about his teams with his friends here at Renaissance and is always ready to offer you a prediction for an upcoming Eagles game.

Hello. My name is Sunil Chacko. I am the new Administrator here at Renaissance. I am excited to be part of this facility and look forward to helping make this place even better. About myself: I grew up in Houston, TX basically my whole life. I was born in Detroit, but was only there for 2 weeks, then moved to Houston. My wife obtained a job at Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, which is what prompted the move to Philly. We bought a house in August 2016 and we love where we’re at. I hope to meet the rest of you soon. Always know that if you need to talk to me about anything, please feel free to come by. Thanks!

Meet The Real Residentsof Renaissance!

The time has arrived to get your “2018 Real Residents of Renaissance” calendar. Each of the last several years, our resident calendars have been a smash hit and have completely sold out. This year, we added the fun of including many members of our community who are actively involved with our Renaissance family. Take a look inside to find the Spiral Q Puppet Theater, the Chester Avenue Dog Park, State Representative, James Roebuck, and many others. Calendars are available with our receptionist and cost $7. All proceeds to benefit resident events here at Renaissance.

As the holidays approach, we always send a letter to our friends in the community who have supported us throughout the year to request gift donations for our many residents. The response that we receive is overwhelming. For a third straight year, our Activities Coordinator, James Garrett, donned a Santa Suit and traveled the hallways of Renaissance loaded with armfuls of gifts for every resident in the facility. Included in these gifts was a specially requested “wish” item for every single resident, provided by the Chester Avenue Dog Park. We look forward to seeing everyone who helped all of our residents to believe in Santa Claus this year and offer them our thanks and best wishes for 2018.
