This Directory has been produced by staff of the Renmark Paringa Council to inform residents of local and other relevant services available in our area.
Whilst every attempt has been made to have the correct and most up to date information available, we understand that there maybe incorrect information listed. The Directory is made up of two parts –firstly a listing of businesses within the Renmark town area and secondly, community groups which may include service groups, schools, churches and sports and leisure groups.

The meetings are held in the Chambers at the Civic Centre. The General Council meetings are open to members of the public. Community members are limited to one question per person. Questions are asked through the Mayor. Council’s minutes and agendas for each meeting are available on Council’s website – www.renmarkparinga.sa.gov.au, at the Council Office and the Library.
COUNCIL SERVICES Immunisations A free immunisation clinic is conducted at the Civic Centre (61 Eighteenth Street, Renmark) for children and High School students on the 3rd Wednesday of each month. The clinic times are between 1pm and 3.15pm. To book into a clinic, call the Council Office on 8580 3000. For immunisation enquiries, contact our Environmental Health Officer, Ms Katina Nikas on 8580 3000 or M 0418 848 781.
Waste Management The Waste Transfer Station is located on Government Road, Renmark. Phone M 0408 548 366 The opening hours are as listed: Monday 2pm – 6pm Monday 2pm – 6pm Tuesday 9am – 12pm Wednesday 9am – 12pm Thursday Closed Friday 1pm – 4pm Saturday Closed Sunday 10am – 4pm In December 2012, Council introduced a new Waste Management System within the Council area, using the 3 bin system for town residents and a 2 bin system for rural residents.
Library
The Renmark Paringa Library is situated on James Avenue, near the Jarrett Memorial Gardens. Telephone 8586 5544 Hours Monday Closed Tuesday 9.30am – 5.30pm Wednesday 9.30am – 8pm Thursday 9.30am – 5.30pm Friday 9.30am – 5.30pm Saturday 9.30am – 12 noon Sunday & Public Holidays Closed The library provides free internet access. Bookings are welcome. Wireless access is also available from 8am – 11pm each day. Pre School story telling is held on Wednesday mornings from 10.30am in the Library. Children’s storytelling and craft activity programs are held during school holidays. A reader’s group is held on the 2nd Tuesday of each month at 10am in the Library. The Library offers a photocopying service at 20c per page with colour copies $1 per page. The library also offers a scanning to USB service at a cost of 20c per scan.
Visitor Information Centre Our Visitor Information Centre is located on the banks of the beautiful River Murray, opposite the Renmark Hotel Motel. The Visitor Information Centre provides a wide range of tourist information on Renmark, the Riverland, South Australia and interstate. The Centre is open Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm, Saturdays, 9am to 4pm and Sundays and Public Holidays from 10am to 4pm. For further information phone the Centre on 8586 6704. Any organisation or individual wishing to utilise Council land for sporting activities, festivals, street stalls, celebrations, parties, weddings, badge days etc, must obtain a permit application and submit this at the Visitor Information Centre. The forms are available on the Council website or from the Visitor Information Centre.
Parks & Gardens
There are a number of parks and gardens within the Renmark Paringa Council district that are available for the public to utilise. Jarrett Memorial Gardens, James Avenue, Renmark Located next to the Public Library. A playground, and tables and chairs are located in this area. Toilet facilities are located nearby at the rear of the Library. Darnley Taylor Memorial Park/Renmark Skate Park Located on Renmark Avenue. A skate park, undercover playground and eating area, a BMX track as well as BBQs and toilets are all located at this popular park Bert Dix Memorial Park Located on the riverfront along Lock 5 Road, Paringa, overlooking the Paringa Bridge. This park has BBQs available for use, free of charge, along with tables and chairs and a playground. A boat ramp is available for use. Toilet facilities are located within the park. Lions Park Located at the end of Patey Drive, just before the BIG 4 Caravan Park, Renmark. This park has an undercover area with tables and chairs and free BBQs. Toilet facilities are located nearby. Ellen Park, Lyrup Located on the Riverfront, Lyrup. BBQ and toilet facilities available.
Renmark to the Border Local Action Planning “To enable the community to take responsibility for the management of its own natural resources
to achieve long term, sustainable economic, social, cultural and environmental benefits” The Renmark to the Border Local Action Planning (LAP) is a Community based organization that has recently become a committee of the Renmark Paringa Council. This committee meets bi-monthly. The LAP promotes and supports volunteer groups toward the management of the natural environment in the Renmark region. The Riverland Ramsar Site is one of the significant sites within the Renmark to the Border LAP boundary and there are many other important sites managed by the local community. The LAP attracts significant funding toward projects in the region and provides education programs to local schools and the community. We recognize that in order to have a healthy natural environment, we must also have a healthy community and both the irrigation and horticultural industry must be supported toward a sustainable future. Bendigo Bank Agency The Renmark Paringa Council is a Bendigo Bank Agency. The Agency can
• process deposits, withdrawals, transfers and EFT’s in real time so your accounts will be updated immediately
• open new accounts and update information on existing accounts
• help arrange any lending, including home loans, personal loans, business lending and credit cards. (This will be passed on by council staff to our ‘mother branch’ at Gawler for a Bendigo Bank staff member to assist you in these matters)
The hours of the bank are Monday to Friday, 9am-4.30pm
Chaffey Community Centre 86 Nineteenth Street, Renmark Phone 8586 5745 Contact: Poppy Papageorgiou [email protected] Opening Hours: 9am-3pm weekdays Room/Centre hire can be arranged after hours and weekends The Chaffey Community Centre is a warm, friendly and inviting hub for locals and community groups. The Centre provides a diverse range of activities and classes including computing, literacy, gardening, cooking, sewing, craft and school holiday activities, and is responsive to the needs of the community. It provides a Renmark base for many local service providers and there are small meeting rooms and an open space area that are available for hire. There are public notice boards and pamphlet racks that display community information from various agencies and groups in the Renmark Paringa and Riverland districts. The Centre also provides volunteering opportunities in office administration, operations or special projects.
