1.0 INTRODUCTION RENOVA is an 8(a)‐certified, small business with core competencies as a self‐performing environmental remediation, construction, engineering, and project management firm serving our clients since 2006. We employ an experienced team of project managers, environmental scientists and engineers, and heavy equipment and CDL operators. We welcome projects ranging from residential oil tank removals and site investigations to large‐scale remediation implementations incorporating geotechnical construction. We have a proven track record of delivering projects on time, on budget, and with an excellent safety record. Through our successful teaming partnerships with large businesses and independently, RENOVA supports various Federal agencies in accomplishing their missions. We are proficient at working with Federal agencies, environmental consulting and engineering firms, insurance companies, environmental attorneys, general contractors, and residential homeowners. RENOVA offers value engineering as well as turnkey, complete project management services. Our experienced, in‐house crews consist of OSHA‐30 construction supervisors and OSHA‐40 HAZWOPER‐trained equipment operators, CDL drivers, and field technicians. We are licensed, insured, and bonded. 2.2 Underground Storage Tank (UST) Management RENOVA is an expert at UST location, investigation, and closure. Our services and experience include working with a wide array of tank sizes, volumes, and contents, both regulated and unregulated. Our expertise includes: remote tank locating and inspections of size and contents, tank decommissioning or abandonment‐in‐place, collection of UST closure samples, investigation, delineation and remediation of contaminated media.

2.3 Geotechnical Construction Services RENOVA provides structural support and geotechnical construction services for federal, commercial, and residential clients. We are certified and experienced in implementing effective structural support systems for environmental and general construction applications. We work with licensed professional engineers to design systems which offer the safest protection required. Mr. Heyman specializes in remediation planning, implementation, and project management. He is recognized for his technical and process-driven management expertise in the environmental construction industry, specifically for his ability to manage large, complex task orders and multiple concurrent projects. He offers more than twelve years’ experience as an owner/senior project manager of environmental remediation for federal, commercial, and residential projects. Select Project Experience Environmental Services Contract at Fort Devens Range Complex, Massachusetts 2015 – current Mr. Heyman serves as Program Manager for an LTM and Annual Reporting project within the South Post Impact Area (SPIA) of Fort Devens South Post for U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE), New England District. As part of this contract, he serves as the primary contact to client and regulatory officials and oversees the development of project specific regulatory submittals and the implementation of the field program which includes LTM sampling throughout SPIA, a perchlorate investigation in the area of an active firing range, and perfluorinated compound (PFC) sampling of three existing drinking water wells located throughout South Post.

Water Supply Well Drilling, Design and Construction at Fort Devens Range Complex, Massachusetts 2015 – current Mr. Heyman serves as Program Manager for a water supply system design‐build project at Fort Devens South Post for USACE, New England District. As part of this project, two new public water supply wells will be installed to provide drinking water to two training facilities located within South Post, and services on this project include the installation of test wells and gravel‐packed wells, the implementation of 4‐hour and 48‐hour pump tests, the design of both water systems including water treatment technologies as applicable, regulatory permitting, the oversight of the water system construction, and water system operator training. Naval Facilities Engineering Command (NAVFAC) Mid Atlantic ‐ Ordered Remedial Action Area 9, Former Building

70 Naval Station (NAVSTA) Newport, Rhode Island 2015 Mr. Heyman served as Project Manager for a pipeline and soil removal project at the Naval Station in Newport, RI. As part of this project, Mr. Heyman managed the emptying and cutting/capping of an on‐site abandoned product pipe. Following the capping of the abandoned pipe, two previously characterized areas were excavated, totaling approximately 3,700 square feet and approximately 750 tons of disposed soil. In addition, Mr. Heyman coordinated soil management and disposal and reviewed all project plans.

Remedial Investigation and Remedial Action Operation; Detachment Sandy Hook, NJ 2015 – 2016

Mr. Heyman served as the Project Manager as the prime contractor for the U.S. Coast Guard to delineate and

remediate 1900 tons of impacted soil from a fuel oil release. Renova designed, constructed, operated a maintained

a 1,000‐gpm groundwater extraction and treatment system with over 12 million gallons treated. All sampling and

Mr. Heyman currently serves as the Project Manager for a long‐term remediation project for the U.S. Army Corps of

Engineers to remediate a historic spill in an ongoing effort to close the site under ACT 2 under the PA DEP. As a

Environmental Services IDIQ – DoD Military Installation, NJ 2014 – current

Mr. Heyman currently serves as a Task Manager on environmental services tasks under a 5‐year IDIQ for service

areas that address emergency response, storage tanks, restoration, hazardous materials and petroleum,

Regulated UST Removals and Soil Remediation – DoD Military Installation, NJ Winter, 2013

Mr. Heyman served as the Project Manager on a project as the prime contractor for a DoD client, which included the

removal of two (2) 25,000‐gallon and two (2) 10,000 gallon USTs, in addition to removal and disposal of 190 tons of

impacted soil. The project was completed safely and on schedule to the client’s satisfaction.

Historic Landfill Capping & Passive Gas System Installation – Newark, NJ Winter/Spring, 2015

RENOVA was responsible for the trenching and installation of a 2,200‐linear foot passive gas mitigation system,

comprised of 6” HDPE piping joined with butt fusion. Site civil work included segregating C&D debris scattered

throughout the site for disposal, capping of the former landfill with imported, certified clean fill and grading and

restoring the site with topsoil.

Municipal Landfill – Monmouth County, New Jersey Fall, 2014

Mr. Heyman managed the implementation of a geotechnical construction project comprised of the installation of

162 timber piles for a deep foundation for two (2) bioreactor tanks at a municipal landfill. The project was completed

safely, on budget, and ahead of schedule to the client’s satisfaction.

Industrial Site – Keasbey, New Jersey 2013 – 2014

Mr. Heyman managed the implementation of a geotechnical construction project comprised of the installation of a

550‐linear foot sheet pile retaining wall to shore an excavation for the remediation contractor and two (2) sheet pile

weir walls as part of an ecosystem restoration project at the site.

Ms. Felts‐Bock has over 20 years of experience and progressive responsibility in environmental and civil engineering consulting. Her qualifications include extensive hands‐on planning, design, permitting, cost estimating, project management, construction management and field investigation, Ms. Felts‐Bock’s background includes service to public and private‐sector clientele including Fortune 100 companies, AFCEE, New Jersey Transit, and Middlesex County. She currently serves as a Senior Project Manager, working with clients to achieve their remedial goals by providing program management, cost estimates, staffing allocation, deliverable review, and strategy support. Select Project Experience Remedial Investigation and Remedial Action; Petrochemical Facility – New Jersey (2012 – 2016) Ms. Felts‐Bock was responsible for supporting the implementation of remedial actions at a large petrochemical facility located in New Jersey, averaging about $4M in revenue in labor per year. The sites were in various stages ranging from feasibility study, to remedial action work planning/front end engineering, to implementing construction. She worked with multiple teams across all three sectors of the company (energy, environment, infrastructure) to provide quality services and deliverables to the client on time and within budget. Project highlights include a feasibility study for remediation of a pitch disposal area and remedial design of a barrier wall for a four‐landfill area. Ms. Felts‐Bock also oversaw scheduling of activities and tracking of deadlines for all phases of the program, including remedial investigations and operations & maintenance. Environmental Construction, Operations, and Services; Air Force Center for Engineering and the Environment, Environmental Construction, and Operations & Services 2009 and Worldwide Environmental Restoration and Construction (2010 – 2012) Ms. Felts‐Bock was responsible for evaluating opportunities with teaming partners, executing teaming agreements during proposal efforts, managing the proposal effort, reviewing the proposal and associated estimate for firm fixed price, performance based projects, and executing contracts. UST Closure and Remedial Actions; NJ Transit Hudson‐Bergen Light Rain Transit System (HBLRTS) – New Jersey (2010 – 2012) Ms. Felts‐Bock supported New Jersey Transit through various phases of the Hudson‐Bergen Light Rail Transit System (HBLRTS) while utilizing PAECETrakTM and MatTrakTM. Ms. Felts‐Bock performed oversight during construction of a HBLRTS extension and submitted Remedial Action Progress Reports (RAPRs) to the NJDEP during this time. Upon discovery of a waste oil UST during construction, Ms. Felts‐Bock performed the closure of the tank through the LSRP process. When construction was complete, Ms. Felts‐Bock prepared the Remedial Action Report, Deed Notice and Classification Exception Area. Groundwater Containment and Treatment; Kinder Morgan – Carteret, New Jersey (2008 – 2010) The presence of LNAPL, DNAPL, and other dissolved contaminants with the potential to migrate to the Arthur Kill tidal strait presented unique challenges for the containment and treatment of groundwater at this site. hydrogeologic pump tests, bulkhead improvements, and installation of a groundwater extraction and treatment system. RCRA Facility Investigation; Confidential Client – Waterloo, NY (2007‐2009) Implementing a RCRA facility investigation concurrently with corrective measures studies at an operational facility owned by a third party. Scope includes remedial investigation, vapor intrusion investigation for on‐site buildings, soil gas investigation towards off‐site residences, and canal sediment characterization to determine nature and extent of contamination and ultimately corrective measures. As a part of the investigation, both HHRA and ERA have also been completed. Because the site is owned by others, close coordination with the current owner on behalf of our client is necessary. Corrective measures will include engineering and institutional controls to reduce the client’s future liabilities. Corrective measure for the canal sediments will likely be dredging, dewatering with geotubes, and off‐site disposal to reduce the contamination in the canal and reduce the footprint of client liability. Defined the extent of PCBs in soil on‐site, and excavated and disposed of the PCB contaminated (non‐TSCA hazardous) soil outside of the facility fence.

Confidential Client, Demolition Preparation – Piscataway, New Jersey (Project Manager: 2007) Prepared site development permits including a Freshwater Wetlands General Permit 4 (Hazardous Waste Site Investigation and Remediation) Flood Hazard Area Permit to support completion of building demolition followed by remediation of various areas of concern, including mitigation of sediments in a creek. Remediation of the soils and creek resulted in reduction of client liability. Borough of Northvale, Northvale, New Jersey (Program Manager: 2005 – 2006) Provided engineering services to the Borough, primarily with funding from the Hazardous Discharge Site Remediation Fund. Two sites owned by the Borough through foreclosure are impacted with tetrachloroethene (PCE) and their degradation compounds. At one of the sites, an estimated 20,000 gallons were released to the subsurface. Managed two phases of remedial investigation, which determined that the plume extends more than 200 feet below ground surface (bedrock is located about 50 feet below ground surface), and has migrated off‐site onto multiple properties. The $1.2 MM investigation involved the use of innovative Westbay multiport monitoring wells which saved the client $200k. Consulting services to the Borough also included negotiation with the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection (NJDEP), during which we successfully segregated responsibility (soil versus groundwater) at the site. This segregation of responsibility along with defining the extent of contamination allowed a redeveloper to acquire the site and return the property to the tax rolls. The other site was a former dry cleaner located in a residential neighborhood. Investigation activities determined the extents of PCE and LNAPL plume, and also required vapor intrusion assessments of the adjacent residential properties to determine if there was unacceptable risk to the residents. Panattoni Development Corporation, iPort 440 Redevelopment Project – Perth Amboy, New Jersey (Engineering Task Manager: 2004 – 2006) Project involves the redevelopment of 176 acres comprised of three parcels. In addition, one parcel has a previous property owner who is responsible for remediation. Therefore, access coordinated for site assessments and remedial investigations with three separate property owners, the other responsible party, the attorneys and consultants for the property owners/responsible party, as well as tenants Utilized an internet‐based GIS program to cost‐effectively share data with the various levels of property owners, responsible parties, attorneys and consultants. This method enabled our client to quickly gain permission to release data to the regulators to support the triad approach for investigation, which allowed the client to expedite the project while meeting regulatory and project objectives. The site is impacted with battery casings from lead reclamation, process waste from smelting operations, polychlorinated biphenyls, and heavily impacted with slag from smelting operations, Intensive negotiations with NJDEP have resulted in a remedy consisting of limited source removal, installation of an upgradient cut off wall to limit groundwater flow through the site, a downgradient permeable reactive barrier wall to treat groundwater discharging from the site, a site‐wide cap, and wetlands

mitigation. Implementation of these remedies will allow the development project to not be hindered by its environmental condition. United Technologies Corporation, Underground Storage Tank Closure and Subsurface Evaluation – Lodi, New Jersey (Task Manager: 2004) Closure of eighteen underground storage tanks (12,000 gallon to 18,000 gallon) that previously stored raw and finished products at a former pigments and dyes facility in Lodi, New Jersey. Sequencing of the closure was an important management aspect of the project. One of the underground storage tanks contained a substance that exhibited a lower explosive limit of 35% and a flash point less than 84 degrees Fahrenheit, requiring additional safety measures and careful implementation of the tank closure regulations. Despite these challenges, the project was completed without incident. Air Force Center for Environmental Excellence, Andrews Air Force Base – Maryland (Program Manager 2004) Under a Performance‐Based contract, designed and implemented a remedial action of injecting oxygen releasing compounds to the subsurface to treat MTBE‐contaminated groundwater from leaking underground storage tanks. By implementing this project, the contamination was significantly reduced, and a no further action letter was received 3 years ahead of schedule. Study of oil/water separators base‐wide to recommend demolition of oil/water separators that are no longer in use/or not permitted. Design and construction of secondary containment at bulk fuel off‐loading areas, to help the facility come into compliance with SPCC regulations and to minimize the client’s liability in the event of a future discharge. NJ Transit, Hudson‐Bergen Light Rail Transit System – Hudson County, New Jersey (Field Operations Manager/Senior Environmental Engineer: 1998 – 2004) Coordinated with the client and the design‐build‐operate‐maintain (DBOM) contractor from an engineering perspective for the following:

Classification and quantity of material that will be encountered/managed during construction based on the current design

Coordination with various regulatory agencies including NJDEP, local Municipal Utilities Authorities, and disposal/recycling facilities for dewatering and hazardous and non‐hazardous soils/waste

Middlesex County Engineers Office, Middlesex Greenway – Middlesex County, NJ (Project Manager, 2006‐2007) Managed the design of a rails‐to‐trails project. The Middlesex Greenway is a bicycle path between the municipalities of Metuchen, Edison and Woodbridge. Design involves the remediation of soil impacted by railroad operations, installation of a cap (asphalt bicycle path), and restoration of drainageways, as well as preparation of specifications. Middlesex County Utilities Authority, 102‐inch Sanitary Force Main Monitoring and Maintenance – Sayreville, NJ (Project Manager, 2006‐2007) The 102‐inch prestressed cylinder concrete piping was compromised due to degradation associated with acidic soils. Project involved monitoring a sanitary force main constructed with this piping. The force main was surveyed for existing status of each length of pipe, and then monitored for wire breaks to determine if repair or replacement was necessary. Managed the contract associated with these repairs or replacements. Repairs included excavating around the piping, reinforcing with post‐tensioned cable, encased in concrete and backfilled with suitable excavated material mixed with lime. Replacement required round‐the‐clock coordination to minimize the time the sanitary force main was out‐of‐service.

Vapor Barrier Installation – Philadelphia, Pennsylvania 2015 – current

Mr. Gutchigian is currently serving as the Construction Quality Manager for a long‐term remediation project

for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers to remediate a historic spill in an effort to close the site under ACT 2

under the PA DEP.

Historic Landfill Capping & Passive Gas System Installation – Newark, NJ Winter/Spring, 2015

Mr. Gutchigian lead a crew in the trenching and installation of a 2,200‐linear foot passive gas mitigation

system, comprised of 6” HDPE piping joined with butt fusion. Site civil work included segregating C&D

debris scattered throughout the site for disposal, capping of the former landfill with imported, certified

clean fill and grading and restoring the site with topsoil.

Municipal Landfill – Monmouth County, New Jersey Fall, 2014

Mr. Gutchigian directed a crew to install 162 timber piles for a deep foundation for two (2) bioreactor tanks

at a municipal landfill. The project was completed ahead of schedule.

Industrial Site – Keasbey, New Jersey 2013–2014

Mr. Gutchigian directed a crew to install a 550‐linear foot sheet pile retaining wall, to shore an excavation

for the remediation contractor, and two (2) 30‐foot sheet pile weir walls as part of an ecosystem restoration

project at the site.

Regulated UST Removals and Soil Remediation – DoD Military Installation, NJ Winter, 2013

Mr. Gutchigian directed a crew to remove two (2) 25,000‐gallon and two (2) 10,000 gallon USTs, in addition

to removal and disposal of 190 tons of impacted soil. The project was completed on schedule to the client’s

satisfaction.

Heavy Site Civil Construction – Fort Tilden Beach, New York Spring, 2014

Mr. Gutchigian directed a crew of heavy equipment operators and laborers to safely and efficiently

complete restoration work pursuant to Hurricane Sandy. The work involved removal of large chunks of

debris broken off from a nearby road Shore Road, loading more than 175 tractor trailers of concrete for

disposal, grading the existing beach, and protecting existing historic features.

Ms. Jagger has more than 13 years of experience in the environmental remediation field, including the management of complex site remediations and leaking underground storage tank sites. This work includes retail petroleum sites, commercial facilities, and residential properties. Her experience also includes regulatory compliance issues and due diligence to address requirements under the regulatory guidelines. Select Project Experience Industrial Property, Middlesex County, New Jersey After triggering the Industrial Site Recovery Act (ISRA) by sale of the property, Ms. Jagger managed the project which included identifying multiple areas of concern (AOCs) through conducting a Preliminary Assessment (PA) and conducting the subsequent Site Investigation (SI) of the AOCs and remedial investigation of the soil and groundwater onsite. Ms. Jagger completed the regulatory reporting for the PA/SI and the created Remedial Investigation Workplan (RIW) for the site.

Residential Property, Camden County, New Jersey As the Project Manager, Ms. Jagger investigated the release of a heating oil underground storage tank (UST) after oil was observed in the sump pump of the adjacent property owner. The remedial investigation confirmed the release extended beneath both homes requiring underpinning of the foundations of both structures. Conditions for an Immediate Environmental Concern (IEC) were met through conducting a vapor intrusion investigation. Ms. Jagger managed the site through the foundation support, remediation of over 1600 tons of impacted soil and treatment of over one million gallons of impacted groundwater, and case closure. The budget for the project exceeded one million dollars. Retail Petroleum Station, Hudson County, New Jersey Ms. Jagger oversaw the remedial investigation of a retail gas station with gasoline, diesel, kerosene and polychlorinated biphenyls (PCB) contamination from current and former uses. The investigation was completed by delineation of each contaminant through soil and groundwater sampling and data review and analysis. Ms. Jagger worked with engineers on the design of a remediation system and completed the reporting requirements.

Former Petroleum Terminal, Middlesex County, New Jersey

At a site located adjacent to a sensitive receptor, a large water body, free product #6 oil was observed and was

believed to be from a tank failure that had occurred in the 1990s. Ms. Jagger managed the emergency response to

address the remediation in an effort to minimize impacts to the sensitive receptor. Ms. Jagger prepared the

Interim Remedial Measures report and conducted historical research for the site and the surrounding area.

Current Petroleum Terminal, Middlesex County, New Jersey Ms. Jagger managed a Petroleum Terminal Site containing approximately 16 areas of concern (AOCs) and approximately 20 historic spill locations. Work on this site included research and review of data to confirm the Remediation Priority System (RPS) ranking determined by the NJDEP. Ms. Jagger also researched over 100 wells located at the site and incorporated the information into the Remedial Investigation Reports and Remedial Investigation Workplans for the AOCs located on the property to meet regulatory compliance. Wetlands Delineation and Permitting, Ocean County, New Jersey Ms. Jagger managed a project consisting of wetlands delineation and permitting. The site consisted of over 30 acres of land comprised of approximately 70% wetlands and transition areas. Following onsite delineation, Ms. Jagger completed all necessary mapping and wetland permitting and reporting requirements.

CAFRA Permitting, NJ Coastline Ms. Jagger has overseen the preparation and submission of over 50 CAFRA permits to the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection Land Use Regulation Program. The CAFRA sites required coordination with clients, architects, engineers and the NJDEP. Permits ranged from new construction within the CAFRA area to removal of tanks or other environmental concerns within the CAFRA zone. Residential Fuel Oil Tank Removal and Remediation – New Jersey (Statewide) Ms. Jagger has overseen the investigation, removal, and remediation of over 500 residential fuel oil tanks in the State of New Jersey. As Project Manager, Ms. Jagger interacted and facilitated the removal of tanks between the homeowners, state and local authorities, and insurance companies. REMEDIAL INVESTIGATION AND REMEDIAL ACTION OPERATION

Site: Detachment Sandy Hook

Location: Sandy Hook, New Jersey

Client: U.S. Coast Guard

Date: Winter 2015 – Winter 2016

RENOVA was selected as the prime contractor by the U.S. Coast Guard (USCG) to complete soil

investigative and remedial actions and groundwater removal and treatment activities for the

Detachment (DET) Sandy Hook. The Remedial Action Operation (RAO) included utility

infrastructure relocation, federal and state regulatory permitting and coordination, remedial

action investigation, design and execution, and regulatory reporting. Further, the project

encountered the distinct challenge of taking place within an ecologically sensitive habitat while

also being subject to a compressed schedule due to the client’s need to prepare the site for an

upcoming renovation.

Renova was responsible to delineate the nature and extents of a 2012 diesel fuel release from an

emergency generator tank comingled with a historic, circa 1994, fuel oil release from two (2)

5,000‐gallon diesel Underground Storage Tanks (USTs). Subsequent to site investigation, Renova

was responsible for remedial action operation planning, removal actions and LNAPL recovery,

groundwater treatment, regulatory compliance, site maintenance and technical reporting.

The RENOVA‐PARS Joint Venture, LLC was selected as the prime contractor by the U.S. Army

Corps of Engineers (USACE) as part of a long‐term monitoring and mitigation project to address

an underground free‐phase hydrocarbon plume of petroleum product situated beneath the

Former Defense Supply Center. All work is being performed in an ongoing effort to close the site

under ACT 2 under the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection. To prevent the

accumulation of potentially harmful vapors, RENOVA, a certified Liquid Boot® contractor,

installed vapor barriers beneath townhome units in a new housing development situated atop

the hydrocarbon plume and a historic landfill. In addition, RENOVA‐PARS performed tasks

associated with operations and maintenance of the vacuum‐enhanced skimming system (VES),

in place at the site for more than 12 years and designed to remove petroleum LNAPL from the

shallow aquifer.

Site: Thomas Edison National Historical Park

Location: West Orange, New Jersey

Thomas Edison National Historical Park is

located in West Orange, New Jersey, and

encompasses two sites – the Laboratory

Complex and the Glenmont Estate, former

home to Thomas and Mina Edison. For 44 years,

from 1887 to 1931, the site served as the

inventor’s research and development center.

With his team of scientists and technicians,

Edison earned 1,093 U.S. patents in his lifetime, most for inventions that originated in the West

Orange labs. The National Park Service retained RENOVA to compile a current inventory of

chemicals and identify those that pose a hazard to staff and visitors based on their contents and

make recommendations for disposal and storage options, and included surveying four locations

at the Site where chemicals are stored.

A professional chemical inventory was

last conducted at the Site circa 1980.

bottles which hold chemicals in the

At the tail end of a long‐term project, RENOVA was selected as the contractor to bring the 1.8‐

acre former landfill site to completion in order to allow for a property transfer. RENOVA self‐

performed on the trenching and installation of a 2,200‐linear foot passive gas mitigation system,

comprised of 6” HDPE piping joined with butt fusion, which RENOVA’s crew is certified to

perform. Site civil work included segregating C&D debris scattered throughout the site for

previous contractor did not perform as expected. RENOVA completed the project to the client’s

two (2) 10,000 gallon kerosene USTs. Additionally, RENOVA removed and disposed of

approximately one hundred eighty (180) tons of fuel‐impacted soil. The site was backfilled,

compacted, and restored to its original condition.

All work was completed pursuant to a negotiated, firm‐fixed‐price contract. The proposed

timeline and allotted budget were strictly adhered to. RENOVA completed the work with zero

reportable incidents or safety concerns. The results from the soil sample collection and analysis

were incorporated into a UST Closure Report, which assisted the Client in future planning for

the site.

RENOVA was asked to bid on additional work at the installation by the Client due to the

successful completion of this project.

HEAVY CIVIL DISASTER REMEDIATION

Site: Fort Tilden Beach

Location: Gateway National Park, New York

Client: Undisclosed Federal prime contractor

Date: Spring, 2014

The National Park Service awarded a contract to remove debris and remediate hazards caused

by Superstorm Sandy at Fort Tilden Beach and Floyd Bennett Field at the Gateway National

Recreation Area in Jamaica Bay, NY. The project was of an emergency nature because of

threatened and endangered species‐related environmental restrictions, and was completed

within a short 10‐day time frame.

The prime contractor tasked with the remediation selected RENOVA as a key subcontractor to

provide heavy equipment operators and laborers. RENOVA’s crew safely and efficiently removed

large chunks of debris broken off from nearby Shore Road, loaded more than 175 tractor trailers

of concrete for disposal, graded the existing beach, and protected existing historic features. Site

work was accomplished with a 70‐ton CAT excavator, a “Euclid” off‐road CAT dump truck, and a

20‐ton articulating wheel loader.

The project was delivered to the prime contractor and National Park Service’s satisfaction and

the beach was open for the public’s safe enjoyment in time for summer.

UST MANAGEMENT AND REMEDIATION Site: Welsbach & General Gas Mantle Superfund Site Location: Gloucester City, New Jersey Client: Sevenson Environmental Services, Inc. Date: Summer, 2013 – Winter, 2014

As the subcontractor working for Sevenson Environmental Services, RENOVA was called upon to

assist with an “orphan” fuel‐oil underground storage tank (UST) that was encountered at the tail

end of the long‐term remedial action of a radiologically‐contaminated Superfund site. RENOVA

was responsible for the UST closure under our NJDEP Closure license, which entailed cutting,

cleaning, and disposing of the liquid contents. The UST was determined to have leaked, and

follow‐on work was issued to RENOVA to collect UST closure samples, delineated the plume,

develop a remediation strategy, and work with Sevenson to implement the remedial action.

All work was completed pursuant to a competitive, firm fixed‐price subcontract and was an

excellent opportunity for RENOVA to grow its federal experience at an active Superfund site

under the oversight of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and a seasoned prime federal contractor.

The proposed timeline, scope, and cost were strictly adhered to. RENOVA completed the work

with zero reportable incidents or safety concerns. The results from the soil sample collection and

analysis were sufficient to close the incident with the NJDEP and for site restoration to continue,

moving the long‐term project one step closer to completion.

DESIGN‐BUILD SHEET PILE TIEBACK WALL AND ECOSYSTEM RESTORATION

Site: Old Nuodex Site

Location: Keasbey, New Jersey

Date: 2013 – 2014

RENOVA self‐performed on the construction of a 550‐linear‐foot sheet pile tieback wall,

constructed to allow the prime contractor to safely and effectively excavate radiologically‐

contaminated soil, while preventing the costly and unnecessary soil disposal caused by

sloughing of the excavation walls.

RENOVA initially designed the wall to incorporate helical pile tiebacks. Heavy debris layers,

previously unidentified in the limited geotechnical investigations, were impenetrable by the

helical piles. RENOVA proposed an alternate design to account for the subsurface obstructions.

The revised design incorporated HP‐piles serving as “deadmen” and connected to the sheet pile

wall with threaded rod. RENOVA first pre‐drilled to 28’ below grade with a down‐the‐hole

hammer, along the entire transect of the sheet pile wall and at each HP pile location, in order to

penetrate piling through the heavy debris layers. All piling was installed utilizing a track‐mount

pile driving rig with a vibratory hammer.

Though previously unidentified subsurface obstructions were encountered, requiring a re‐

design, RENOVA completed the installation of the sheet pile tieback wall ahead of schedule and

with zero health and safety incidents. Additionally, RENOVA received follow‐on work, which

included the installation of several permanent sheet pile walls on the site as part of the

ecosystem restoration.


DEEP FOUNDATION INSTALLATION – TIMBER PILES

Site: Monmouth County Landfill Location: Tinton Falls, New Jersey Client: Confidential Date: Fall, 2014

RENOVA self‐performed on the installation of 162 timber piles to provide a deep foundation

suitable for the construction of two (2) bioreactor tanks being used to capture leachate from the

county landfill. Utilizing a 110‐ton off‐road truck crane and a 15,000‐pound diesel impact

hammer with 60’ leads, RENOVA installed the piles according to the requirements and

specifications outlined by the engineer of record. RENOVA completed the project safely, on time,

and on budget, while offering value engineering to the client to ensure that the project would be

done right the first time.
