Direct-connect Anode Systems baskets signifi- cantly increase productivity and reduce operating costs. These low-cost baskets eliminate the wide top to bottom plating thickness variations, which are common in the longer rack configurations. These variations are caused by the electrical re- sistance of the t i tanium basket, which typically produces a higher current density at the top of the basket and a lower density at the bottom. Since the direct-connected anode basket power lead is attached to the center of the basket by means of a sealed submersible power cable, this resistance is significantly reduced and the plating thickness variation is cut in half. These baskets also elimi- nate anode bar cleaning and the problems associ- ated with poor electrical contact.
