1 Summary of dissemination actions and achievements

City4Age consortium partners have been very active during the project duration in disseminating the

project outcomes and results, and spreading the work at City4Age.

Within the framework of WP8 “Exploitation planning, dissemination and communication”, the project

has designed and implemented its dissemination plan and communication strategy based on leveraging

the project assets and disseminating them through established communication channels, in order to

increase the project visibility and generate meaningful engagement with target groups. Different offline

and online channels have been selected to promote the different City4Age activities and outcomes, in

order to be able to reach the target audiences. These activities are largely amplified with the effect of

network multipliers, through partners’ networks as well as third party events.

These communication and dissemination activities started since the beginning of the project, and in a

nutshell have included:

creation of the visual identity of the project (including project logo, and pantone),

Figure 1 City4Age logo

Figure 2 City4Age pantone (colours guide)

creation and maintenance of two websites (one project website “Institutional Website”

oriented to end users and European institutions, and the “shop-window website” oriented to

stakeholders),

creation and participation on social media dissemination channels (i.e. Facebook, Twitter

and YouTube),

production of dissemination materials,

publication in journals and conference proceedings,

participation in third party events and international conferences,

organisation of workshops,

and realisation of other dissemination actions.

2 City4Age dissemination channels

A broad array of communication channels have been used to effectively reach the targets and to

maximize the project’s awareness.

The most appropriate channels were selected to reach each target group according to: their profile (e.g.

elderly user, city authorities, etc.), the message to convey, and the level of interaction to obtain (e.g.

high interaction with potential adopters through face-to-face meetings). The main communication

channels used to reach each target group are detailed in the following table:

In particular and regarding the project direct channels, it is important to highlight that 2 websites were

created and maintained up-to-date and 3 social media channels:

2.1 Websites

The City4Age project set up 2 different website with 2 different purposes:

- Institutional website: oriented to communicate the project concept, activities and progress.

- Shop-window website: oriented to marketing purposes.

Both websites keep a link between them (one can navigate from one to another and vice versa).

2.1.1 Institutional website

The institutional website, available at http://www.city4ageproject.eu/, provides a user-friendly design

and an easy-to-follow menu so visitors can understand at a glance its structure and can easily navigate

throughout its entire content.

City4Age institutional website is oriented to communicate, in an easy, simple and visual way, what the

project is about. It is devoted to generate awareness about the project concept, progress and activities to

a general (non-technical) audience.

Figure 3 Screenshots of institutional project website

More information about the institutional project website was provided in D8.2.

2.1.2 Shop-window website

The show-window website, available at http://www.city4ageinsight.org/, is oriented to disseminate the

project outcomes and findings with the aim to engage relevant stakeholders that can be adopters of

City4Age results.

The language and contents used on this website is different and more oriented to fulfil the project goals

on exploitation.

2.2 Social media

Three different social media channels have been created in order to activate dynamic content sharing

and participation of people. In addition, social networks are very useful to promote understanding to a

broad audience in a quick way, synthetize and distribute the knowledge, activities, benefits and

outcomes generated through the project lifecycle as well as promote interaction with target groups.

3 City4Age dissemination materials

A pool of dissemination materials has been produced, available in different supports (both online and

offline materials) in order to promote different aspects of the project. All dissemination materials have

been kept updated and some new ones have been created. All of them keep the same “City4Age” look

and feel and style, in order to maintain a coherent and strong visual identity. These materials are used

for dissemination through online channels as well as events, and include:

Posters and leaflets for the project concept and for the pilots

Free-stand roll ups

Videos about the project, the pilots, technical aspects, etc.

4 Impact of dissemination activities

During the whole project duration, the project has generated impact thanks to all dissemination

activities performed. City4Age has generated awareness and impact on different target audiences,

calculated through an estimation of the people reached in the different actions, as shown in the

following table:

September. The City4Age workshop was held on the 13th. With a total of 25 external participants,

during the workshop 6 papers about different aspects of the project were presented, preceded by an

initial invited talk titled “Health Prevention for the Aging Population in Smart Cities: the City4Age

Project” by Paolo Paolini, coordinator of the project. The following image shows the one page brief

describing the session, included in the official programme of the IEEE RTSI conference.

Invitation to participate to the founding meeting of the Special Interest Group (SIG) on

Gerontehnology of the EUGMS, held on September 21; representatives of the City4Age

team have also been invited to be part of the SIG, as members.

Invitation to participate to a Workshop on the usage of social robots for improving

technology-based interventions in geriatrics, held on September 22 at the Pompidou Center

in Nice.

Oral presentation on project current results, given in the Session on “Organisation of care

and gerotechnology”, held on September 22.

The EUGMS associates around 10.000 geriatricians all over Europe and its annual conference is a

reference point for this medical discipline. The participation of City4Age to the conference allowed to

collect important feedback on the Project, offered by leading geriatricians, researchers and

practitioners.

Major issues that have been highlighted by attendees have been:

City4Age objective to harness existing datasets for early detection of the onset of geriatric

conditions is a timely, worthwhile and important endeavour

City4Age should pay attention to carefully assess end user acceptability of the technologies

it proposes

City4Age should also pay attention to the readiness of medical professionals (mainly,

geriatricians and GPs) to accept the increased amount of data that will be put at their

disposal, with respect to current situation; effective data visualisation and interpretation

support is crucial
