    Introduction:

    Corporate social responsibility (CSR) is a form of corporate self-regulation integrated into

    a business model. Now a day every business organization does their corporate social

    responsibility for the social welfare. t has now become an integral part of business activities of

    organization. !an"ing sector of !angladesh is contributing to economy hugely now a day. t has

    become one of the ma#or sectors of !angladesh. $s playing a ma#or role in the economy gives

    them ma#or responsibility to the society. %very ban" is practicing corporate social

    responsibility on their own way. %&port mport !an" of !angladesh 'imited (% !an")* one

    of the leading private commercial ban"s in the country with an e&cellent wor"ing environment

    and corporate culture. n this report we will analyze the corporate social responsibility of %&im

    !an" in !angladesh. +he purpose is not only to find out the CSR activities but also their

    implications and effectiveness on the society. Corporate social responsibility is one of the

    .1 Corporate "ocia Responsibiity

    Social responsibility becomes an integral part of the wealth creation process - which if managed

    properly should enhance the competitiveness of business and ma&imizes the value of wealth

    creation to society.

    Corporate Social Responsibility is the continuing commitment by business to behave ethically

    and contribute to economic development while improving the ,uality of life of the wor"force and

    their families as well as of the local community and society at large.

    !asically* it is a concept whereby companies decide voluntarily to contribute to a better society

    and a cleaner environment. $ concept whereby companies integrate social and environmental

    concerns in their business operations and in their interaction with their sta"eholders on a

    voluntary basis.

    $t last we can say* operating a business in a manner that meets or e&ceeds the ethical* legal*

    commercial and public e&pectations that society has of business.

    improve the society as well as the economy of !angladesh by performing better ban"ing services

    and CSR activities. %very year this ban" puts at least 5E of annual profit to conduct

    Corporatesocial responsibility(CSR) activities. +he following CSR activities are carried out

    Scholarship program for brilliant poor student.

    %ducation 1romotion Scheme(nterest free loan).

    Delping people affected by natural calamities.

    Delping people in slum areas.

    4onation to educational institutions to setup computer lab.

    Showing or providing prayer time in the newspaper.

    4ha"a-5: has been hired to set up %&im !an" Dospital. +he decoration of this hospital is going

    on in full swing. $ doctor has been recruited who is wor"ing as a resident director of the hospital.

    9ther doctors and hospital staffs have been in the process of selection through recruitment notice

    already published in the national dailies. +hey will be appointed as soon as the decoration of the

    hospital is complete.

    +his is a stipend pac"age for poor and meritorious students that ta"e care of the beneficiaries

    throughout their student life. % !an" Scholarship 1rogram* launched in 5==: with : poor

    and meritorious students selected from different reputed educational institutions of 4ha"a City

    including Aovt. 'aboratory Digh School* Fi,arunnissa Noon School and College* 4ha"a

    Gniversity* !G%+* 4ha"a edical College* etc. enrolled as many as === students from around

    $nother vital area of CSR activities is helping people survive natural calamities. Gnder this

    welfare program* % !an" provides relief in cash and "ind for flood* fire or cyclone victims

    and cold-stric"en people. +he aim of these CSR activities is to help the target group overcome

    their provisional handicap and contribute to thesocio-economic growth as soon as possible.

    4uring cold spells* the ban"/s foundation team goes to the northern area of the country and

    distributes blan"ets and other necessaries to help them survive cold. n5==

    Corporate social responsibility disclosure has important implications for the credibility of the

    capital mar"ets in transition economies. CSR is very important for our country and our economy.

    CSR raise the public awareness and help to ta"e the right decision. Corporate social responsibility

    depends on managerial performance as well as a consideration of social responsibility* the socio-

    cultural-environmental dimension of business procedure* legal and ethical practices with a focus

    on customers and other sta"eholders of an organization.
