Sparsh Abhiyan has been launched in Madhya Pradesh to identify such differently disabled
persons, who are deprived of getting the benefits of the schemes being run for their welfare. The
beneficiaries will be issued SparshCard. Social Justice and Panchayat, Rural Development
Minister of M.P. GOVERNMENT Mr. Gopal Bhargava informed that a strategy has been chalked
out in order to reach out to each and every person with disability in all urban areas of the state. So
far, Sparsh Cards have been provided to more than 19 thousand handicapped persons under the
campaign in the State. The card will enable them to take benefit of schemes meant for them. Underthe Sparsh Abhiyan, the persons with disabilities will be
provided all basic facilities as general citizens have. Mentally
retarded and disturbed persons will be given treatment by
psychiatrists. After the medical check up, destitute elders will be
sent to old age home. The campaign is going on in the State from
mid of April 2011.
Sparsh team is formed at district and block development
level and members of the team known as Sparsh Mitra. In
order to make the campaign a success, cooperation of social
activists, NGOs, senior citizens and public representatives will
also be sought. Our team worked as sparsh team in 10 village atblock Aaron. Sparsh Mitra will lend a helping hand to disabled
persons all the time. The details of persons with disability who
have no close relatives will be provided by Sparsh Mitra so that
they can be provided
medical facilities. For
initialize this campaign
successfully, Sparsh
Mitra has also been laid down special guideline.
To implement the campaign effectively, secretary social
justice will be nodal officer while social justice commissionerand welfare department for persons with disability
commissioner will visit the district during the period of
campaign. As a executive member of this campaign
Assistant nodal officer, Panchayat secretary, home guard
jawans, Kotwar, Anganwadi worker, and volunteer from
many CBOs have been entrusted to select the right Sparsh
Mitra.
There are few districts where survey work is continuing
include Alirajpur, Ashok Nagar, Barwani, Bhind,
Chhindwara, Dhar, Dindori, Khandwa, Gwalior, Guna, Jabalpur, Katni, Mandla,Morena, Rewa,
Sheopur and Shivpuri.
This campaign took its position in all block of Guna district
since May. Our volunteer as sparsh mitra lend our hand in 10
village of block aaron in Guna district. Being a supportive CBO
for sahariya tribal, we planned a parallel supporting
programme for sahariya under this campaign in which more
then 90 sahariya took participate. Over 22 tribes (14 male + 8
female) as beneficiaries has been enrolled for sparsh card and
disable certificate. 4 sahariya tribes have been enrolled under Swarna Jayanti Gram Swarozgar
Yojna.

Over all there are 19,029 handicapped persons have been identified in entire state. Out of these,
8,431 belong to urban areas and 10,589 to rural areas. As many as 6,497 handicapped persons are
living below poverty line, 6,332 are women and 12,697 men. Out of these, 557 handicapped persons
are working in Government and non-government firms and 818 are running self-employment.
