Opinion on the issue before the show (n=100)

Insights on opinions on the issue before watching the show….

as a lady we also need protection cause a man can refuse to put on one

I did not know much about this condom but had heard about it

As a woman I am in support of it as it helps

in self protection

Female condoms are useful in fight against HIV/AIDS

I have positive about

it since I practice safe sex though had never seen one

I had mixed feelings about it

Both men and women need protection

I heard about them though

never used them …I think they are

good…

I have never seen a female condom

and I don’t know how to use it

I know about it but

I don’t know if I

can use it

I know about it because I received them when I went

for a blood test

It was seen as awkward for a lady to be seen with a

condom

It’s ok since male condoms don’t

favor second rounds during intercourse

I thought they are for

prostitutes

The condom is useful but has not been given enough publicity as male

condom

Condom is necessary

I have no problems about it

since it’s a contraceptive

tool

I have no problem with it though I

prefer male condoms

I thought they were not safe and

not easy to use

They are good but people

need sensitization

They are good for family planning

and safe sex

I used to think they are for sex

workers

I did not know how effective

how these condoms could

be

I have no negative opinion

towards it

Condom is very useful

especially for sex workers

They are more expensive

compared to male condoms

I was of the view that the

condom is impractical

I don’t think I am

comfortable with it

I cannot use that condom

Condoms are rubbers for protection

whether male or female

They help guard against STDs and

unwanted pregnancies

They were not a new thing to me

though I had never seen one

I thought thy are difficult to

find

Lessons from the show: Below are lessons from the shows…

FCs are (easily) accessible

FCs are not as popular/need to popularize

FCs are safe to use

FCs serve same purpose as other condoms

FCs are easy to use/comfortable

They are not only for sex workers

They are effective

Some men don't like FCs

FCs are not easily available

FCs help in birth control

It is alright for a woman to condoms in her handbag just like

sanitary pads

Men viewing women with these condoms

as prostitutes

Where can be obtained from

Condom is now available in

pharmacies and supermarkets

Female condoms are not liked by

male counterparts

They are secure, cancer free and

designed for sexual pleasure

Just like male condom, it’s elastic and strong enough

for intercourse

Many men are against female

condom in favor of male ones citing

sexual satisfaction

The condom is smooth and safe

to both users during intercourse

Female condoms are safe and

Reasons to change opinion on issue after watching the show insights…

According to the views expressed by different

discussants and experts ,its clear

condoms are the way to go

Anything can happen anywhere without

protection and unplanned for

It has been tested and many have used it and its

practical

Its necessary to fight AIDS at two

fronts

I want to know the merits of

using a female condom

People need to access them

easily and conveniently

Many young girls are getting

infected with HIV/AIDS

As an outward looking person, I advise women to

use these condoms

It takes two tangle if men do not want to use

theirs the women can take charge

Men don't want to use condoms and can

let the female partner take charge

instead

Self protection is number one priority and if men can not perform with their

condoms women can be at the forefront

Thought they were not as

effective as the male condoms

Opinions given on the show showed the

positive side of condom use

Its better to use condoms than pills for family

planning

It guarantees safety from HIV

and STD's

Condoms are good but should be for

only married couples or else its harm

Women just like men need protection, If a man fails to use one a woman can use hers

They are a better option to pills and if a man does not use a

male condom there is an alternative

Its everybody's duty and right to

have safe sex

If its better than the male condom then we shall use

it instead

Everyone needs protection not only

meneveryone(married

and unmarried)

Testimonies were given which

threw more light on the usage of

condoms

Results from total SMS poll and call respondent SMS responses…

A. Women can protect themselves even if their male partner doesn’t want to wear a condom

B. Women can take control of their life and health
