1- Tool Bag: This is a protective bag to keep carpenter tools in it. The Toolkit Bag shall be made of
heavy-duty plain-woven canvas fabric weighting 240-300 gm/sq. yard. Bag should have back strap
in order to carry on shoulders. It shall have adequate slots for placing tools.
2- Hand Saw: Hand Saw is used to cut across the grain of wood. Cutting blade usually 10 or
12 inches long, is made of carbon steel. These are normally ‘Crosscut saw’ where each cutting
tooth is angled to cut with one edge and push sawdust out with the other. Blade should contain 10
to 15 TPI (teeth per inch). The handle should be made of plastic/ wood for proper gripping &
working.
3- Try Square 150mm: Try square are L-shaped, with a thin metal blade that is marked in graduations like a ruler and a “STOCK” called the body, which is thicker than the blade having thickness 1.8mm to 2.0mm. Try square is normally made of polished steel. Try square is used primarily to mark a straight/ right angle (900) line across a piece of wood for cutting.
4
4- Steel Measuring Tape 3m: A measuring tape is a flexible ruler. It consists of metal strip with linear-measurement markings . It is a common measuring tool . Its design allows for a measure of great length to be easily carried in pocket or toolkit and permits one to measure around curves or corners. This should be made of steel having better corrosion resistance and longer service life.
The tang is connected to the tape with loose rivets through oval holes, and can move a distance equal to its thickness, to provide both inside and outside measurements that are accurate.
5- Firmer chisel 1”: It has a thick, strong blade that allows removal of large pieces of wood in a single strike. Theses chisels are made with square cutting edges which are differentially heat treated for improved strength. Handle are wooden and are strengthen at the top with metal, stopping to split at the time of hitting. Chisel should be conforming to IS 5663-1970.
In fact, this chisel's blade is strong enough to form deep, large joints when the end is hit with a hammer. This type of chisel has a beveled edge, and used for general woodworking.
5
6- Cutting plier 8”: It is made of steel by forging with sharp cutting jaws. It is used for cutting Stainless Steel sheet/ Mild steel wire and wire mesh.
7- Triangular file 125mm thick: A file is used to cut fine amounts of material from a work piece or sharpen the tools. It is made of a steel bar with a case hardened surface and a series of sharp, parallel teeth. This files have a narrow, pointed tang at one end to which a handle can be fitted. The triangular file or three-square file was traditionally used by carpenters to sharpen saw teeth.
8- Adjustable wrench 10”: Adjustable wrenches have one fixed jaw point at the top of the wrench and one moveable jaw. This is used for turning nuts, lag screws, bolts and other objects.
9- Cold Chisel: Cold chisels is highly tempered piece of tool , which is used to cut a piece of metal and to remove waste material when a very smooth finish is not required or when the work cannot be done easily with other tools, such as a hacksaw, file, bench shears or power tools.
6
10- Hand gloves (cotton): Hand gloves are made of heavy duty cotton with cushion inside for proper protection of hands during working.
11- Smoothing plane: Planes are used to smooth and shape wood by means of a sharp steel blade (housed in a wood or metal casing) set at an angle to the surface to be planed. The depth of the cut can be varied by adjusting the distance the blade protrudes beneath the bottom surface of the plane. Planes are made in many sizes, and special planes are sometimes used to cut channels. Files of various shapes are also used to smooth and shape wood.
12- Screw driver: A screwdriver is a tool for turning (driving or removing) screws. A typical simple
screwdriver has a handle and a shaft, and a tip that the user inserts into the screw head to turn it.
The shaft is usually made of tough steel to resist bending or twisting. The tip may be hardened to
resist wear, treated with a dark tip coating for improved visual contrast between tip and screw—or
ridged or treated for additional 'grip'. The screwdrivers also have interchangeable tips that fit into a
7
socket on the end of the shaft and are held in mechanically or magnetically. Handle are normally
plastic made. Screw driver set shall be as per IS-844 (PART-I).
13- Claw hammer: A claw hammer is a tool primarily used for pounding nails into, or extracting nails from, some other object. The rounded end of the claw, in combination with the handle, is used to gain leverage when extracting a nail. The Claw hammer shall be conforming to IS: 6546/1989 with up-to- date amendments. The handle of Claw hammer shall be as per IS: 4953/1973 with up-to-date amendments.
14- Rukkhan (Mortise Chisel): The chisel is forced into the material to cut out timber for mortise joints. The driving force may be manually applied or applied using a mallet or hammer. This chisel is thick, rigid blade with straight cutting edge and deep, slightly tapered sides to make mortises and similar joints. The Handles of chisel are generally made from polypropylene which has great strength allowing the chisel to be struck hard.
8
15- Hacksaw frame with blade 12”: Hacksaw is a fine-toothed saw, used for cutting metal. They can
also cut various other materials, such as plastic and wood. Hacksaw shall be as per IS-5169 and
hacksaw blade shall be as per IS: 2594. Hacksaws are hand saws with a C-shaped frame that
holds a blade under tension. This has a handle, usually a pistol grip, with pins for attaching a
narrow disposable blade. The frames may also be adjustable to accommodate blades of different
sizes. A screw or other mechanism is used to put the thin blade under tension.
16- Bevel square 6”: A bevel gauge is an adjustable gauge for setting and transferring angles. The
handle is usually made of wood or plastic and is connected to a metal blade with
a thumbscrew or wing nut. The blade pivots can be locked at any angle by loosening or tightening
the thumbscrew. The bevel can be used to duplicate an existing angle, or set to a desired angle.
17- Oil / Water Stone: Oil / Water stone lubricated with oil or water is used for sharpening cutting tools.
These are generally coarse grit silicon carbide stone. A softer grade stone is used with water as
the lubricant (versus oil) to develop a fast cutting slurry. Preferred grit size is 40-80 Micron.
9
18- Sprit level 300mm PVC x 2” width: A spirit level, bubble level or simply a level is an instrument designed to indicate whether a surface is horizontal (level).
Sprit level is equipment which hold a trapped air bubble in liquid filled in glass/plastic pipe, which is properly fixed in metal/ wooden/plastic frame having level surface. When the level is moves the entrapped bubble moves. When the bubble is in centre of pipe, it shows that surface is horizontal.
