I. Tom Goodkind: In Memoriam
“Tom Goodkind has left an enduring mark as a strong advocate and good friend to this downtown community – not to mention a great entertainer, headlining the Washington Squares and TriBattery Pops. His was a lifetime full of the love of music, friends, and good humor. On behalf of BPCA I offer our deepest condolences to his wife, Jill, his children, and the entire Goodkind family.”

II. South Battery Park City Resiliency Project: March 12 Public Meeting o BPCA & Manhattan Community Board 1 hosting next in their series of public
input sessions about the South BPC Resiliency Project o Meeting to include updates on and community input regarding ongoing detailed
design process with design firm AECom, as well as a full Q&A session o See the presentation from our previous joint public session here
III. BPC Ball Fields Resiliency Project
o Next joint public meeting date TBD shortly with Manhattan Community Board 1;

IV. BPC Security Measures o Roughly 40 (of 75 total) security barriers have been placed in Battery Park City’s
parks and public spaces o BPC Streetscape Security Assessment & Design Project procurement underway,
scope of project to include: Physical urban site assessment and analysis; Threat and vulnerability assessment and analyses; Recommendations for physical site security improvements; and
Preliminary design of physical site security improvements o Consultant to begin roughly in June timeframe

Wonder Women of Classical Music! – Sunday, March 10, 2:00pm, 6 River Terrace. Knickerbocker Chamber Orchestra’s all-female ensemble celebrates Women’s History Month with a performance showcasing great classical and contemporary female composers. Led by KCO concertmaster Belinda Whitney, the all-star lineup will inspire with stories of how these stellar musicians followed their musical dreams. Jack Frost Games: Thursdays, March 7-April 18, 4-5PM, Rockefeller Park House. Shake off the winter blues and spring into action with preseason fun and games. Sessions will include outdoor warm-ups, relays, running and games. Shoes with treads and layered clothing highly recommended. (Free drop-off program for ages 6-10; registration required)
Raptors! – Saturday, March 30, 11:00am, 6 River Terrace. Volunteers for Wildlife is a nonprofit wildlife hospital and education center dedicated to the preservation and enhancement of Long Island’s wildlife and natural ecosystems. Meet live hawks, owls and falcons while learning about the many adaptations that make these animals some of the most skilled hunters on the planet. Tuesday Talks: Select Tuesdays, 6 River Terrace. BPCA’s popular lunchtime lecture series is in full swing. Next sessions include:
o April 2, 1:00PM // A Taste of the Past (Part 1): European Ages of Exploration – This talk, led by BPC resident historian Fred J. Bivetto, covers a 1,000-year period of European exploration leading to
discovery and colonization of the Americas, with special attention to Lower Manhattan up to the Revolutionary War o April 9, 1:00PM // A Taste of the Past (Part 2): From the Birth of Our Nation to the New Downtown – This talk, again led by BPC resident Fred Bivetto, covers the events leading up to the birth of our nation, the struggles of our early years, right up to the development of what’s now being called “the New Downtown”

I. Adult Caregiver Support Group – Mondays, 6:00PM @ 200 Rector Place o Being a caregiver for a disabled adult family member or friend is very
demanding, whether you care for someone with physical or cognitive limitations,
or both. This group will share resources and ideas, learn about helpful programs,
and fight isolation, which so often results from caregiving responsibilities.
o Sessions are free and open to any caregiver who lives or works convenient to the
greater BPC area. The group will evolve to meet the needs of those who attend,
so please come to share and learn!

11) Criminal – On Monday, February 18, 2019, the Command Center received a phone call from a Doorman on Rector who stated that someone was setting a fire in Rector Park. The Supervisor responded, the Doorman pointed out the individual, the individual ran into 300 Rector. The Supervisor called 911 and the police responded. The woman was identified and removed from the building in handcuffs.
