Why is this important?
They appear everywhere in looking, designing, and the thing you’re making… for example:
• Requirements Analysis: users’ artifacts, your notes, your scenarios, ???
• Designing: sketches, mock-ups, even Post-Its in project planning, ???
• Your project: web content, icons, red/green LEDs, variable names, class hierarchies, ???
Why is this important?
• Is a video the same as being there? • When we point at a picture and say “There is
Joe”, what are we missing?
Representations
• How does your choice of media affect how you understand / are understood by others?– Issue for project– Issue for data collection– Issue for developing design– Issue for communicating to team
