What is Easter? It is the day when Jesus Christ was crucified and the Christians offer prayers and
services in the churches. Easter is a festival of rejuvenation of life and living. Easter eggs and easter
bunnies are a major attraction of this festival. It is no doubt, the celebration of life as the story of Easter is the
story of god‟s wonderful window of divine surprise. Good Friday has its roots in the journey of Jesus Christ.
On this day the churches are decorated with flowers and there are special hymns and songs.
It‟s with this spirit that the students showed keen interest in their Easter day activity. They displayed their vivid
imagination and sense of color which added volume to their Easter pebbles they decorated. Their passion to

all these and more gave life to their Easter pebbles.
Followed by this, we had a special assembly on Easter held in the auditorium. A speech on Easter was
delivered by Ms. Rinky Maini where the essence and significance of this festival was shared with the children.

festival. Then the children were shown a PowerPoint presentation on Easter being celebrated in different
countries around the world. This was indeed informative and loved by all the children.

festival as colorful as a rainbow or should I say an Easter brownie……..!!

with patriotic fervour to the fusion dance depicting the robust Punjabi culture to the divine
welcome song to the soulful Bezubaan sequel to the hypnotic Alien dance – each had a special
sensitivity and meaning to it. The function was not the formal showcasing of conventional sentiments; it
was replete with the genuine love for the motherland coupled with Mother Earth which was re-
enforced fully when a senior grader pleaded with the gathering to pray for the Earth as much as they
do for their country. The „proud to be Indian‟ emotion was the common thread underlying the
dances, the choir songs, the medley of songs and the fashion show. The auditorium resounded with the
high octane energy of the performers and the rhythmic dance steps. The tricolours formed a tasteful
part of the costumes, stage props, backdrop and the artists‟ make-up and roused a tumultuous feeling of

ancient heritage to its enslavement by the Britishers to its euphoric Independence peppered with the
horror of the partition. Through mesmerizing choreography and flawless dance movements, the students
conveyed the exultant message of India‟s emergence as a rising global power. The patriotic fervour
with which the junior students danced in a fusion dance had the gathering clapping loudly for them

Teacher‟s Day celebrations in Shalom Hills International
School on 5th September‟13
Teachers, I believe, are the most responsible and important members of society because their
professional and personal efforts affect the fate of the earth. ~ Helen Caldicott
In Shalom Hills International School, Teacher‟s Day is the day when one can look back, admire and
get inspired by Dr. Radhakrishnan, a small town boy, who grew up to become one of the most respected
politicians and revered national leader in the history of post Independence India.
Yet another reason why Teacher‟s Day is eagerly awaited by both the taught and the tutors is that
on this day students realize what it means to be a teacher and what it means to control the future of
several students in their classes and also teachers are reminded what it felt like when they were the
students and at the same time, they realize that teaching is a true calling from God and re-
dedicate themselves to this noblest of all professions.
Most importantly, in Shalom Hills International School it was a fun-dappled and excitement dotted day
with the dear students having planned a day of riotous enjoyment for their much loved teachers. The
celebrations planned by the Student‟s Council on 5th
Sept‟13 were laced with emotional and fun quotient in equal measures. The songs, games and poems dedicated to the teachers were a true index of
the close rapport and special connect that exists between the teachers and the students of Shalom Hills.
The non-stop entertainment planned for the teachers did not end with the cultural programme presented
by the senior graders, it only paved way for an exclusive „fun party‟ planned for the teachers after the
students left. One interesting game after the other spiced up the festivities with the dance and music
teachers adding more liveliness to the programme through their dances and songs. A sumptuous lunch
was relished by the teachers who appreciated the management and the school principal for not only
the day‟s special celebrations but also for making teaching in Shalom
Hills „a truly „once in a lifetime‟ experience for all the faculty members.
