RESCUE BOAT LAUNCHING INSTRUCTION

CAPACITY: 6 PERSONS

PREPARETION OF THE RESCUE BOAT

1. Ensure that: - fuel tank filled and drained - emergency stop rope

fitted engine hinged down.

2. Connect fuel hose to engine and operate pump in fuel line until you feel counter

pressure.

3. Following action by designated persons on ship’s deck:

- Check if painter is rigged and secured;

- Check that hoisting arrangement is connected tight with davit;

- Check that no maintenance “hanging off” pendants are connected to the boat; - Additional equipment is passed to the crewmen in the boat (location – Boat Store);

- Check that fender skates are fitted on correct side and secured with rope down under boat;

- Prepare davit, lashings for lowering; - Launching area is checked for obstruction. If all clear, Contact Bridge and report “ready for Embarking”.

OPERATING DESCRIPTION DURING RESCUE BOAT LAUNCHING

1. Release tightening belts of boat on the cradle.

2. Open the shut-off valve.

3. Embark the boat.

4. Rotate the davit jib from the travel position to overboard (90°) with boat using hydro-pneumatic accumulator or hydraulic drive unit. Control the hydraulic drive of the ship’s

deck or using steering rope of rotation remote control.

5. Lower the rescue boat to the water using the brake lever of the winch at ship’s deck or

from the lowered boat operating the brake lever with the help of the remote control steering rope.

IN CASE OF POWER SUPPLY FEILUREMANUAL OPERATION

4. Lower the rescue boat to the water using the brake lever of the winch at ship’s deck or from the lowered boat operating the brake lever with the help of the remote control steering rope (as mentioned above).

IMPORTANT: Keep painter always tight during lowering to prevent turning of boat and minimize impacts against the ship’s side, otherwise boat, engine or persons might be damaged or hurt! DON’T LEAN OVERBOARD! KEEP ARMS INSIDE! STAY SEATED AND USE SUITABLE HANDHOLDS!

6. After launching release the hook.

ON-LOAD HOOK RELEASE: In heavy sea lower the boat 1 meter above the water and take out the pin marked as “UNDER-LOAD RELEAS”, fasten yourself and pull hook releasing wire.

OFF LOAD RELEASE: Once boat waterborne take out the pin marked as “RELEASEING WITHOUT LOAD” and pull hook releasing wire.

7. Start the engine by pulling the starter wire.

IMPORTANT: Emergency stop rope should be fasten at helmsman’s hand before starting the engine.

8. Loosen painter by pulling painter release wire.

9. Sheer off the ship.

IMPORTANT: The release system to be prepared and checked before hoisting.

1. Drive under the Davit; be sure that fender skates are fitted to ship’s side.2. Catch the painter, connect to its fitting and tighten it so that boat is directly under

davit.3. Davit wire to be lowered to boat and to be connected

to the boat suspension arrangement.4. Stop the engine.5. Check safe condition of release system again.6. If necessary correct weight distribution in boat for horizontal hanging.7. Hoist boat up to deck level.8. Secured the boat.9. Disembark the boat.10. Return boat to stowage position and lash it.11. Re-stow all loose equipment.12. Prepare boat for next use.
