Using the blog to organize research and planning

I embedded trailers that I found on youtube to show the type of trailers that I was looking at, and then I talked about them underneath explaining why I chose to look at the trailer and talk about how it will help me with coming up with my own ideas.

Embedding these trailers helped me to look at them easier so that I could note down what it was that made up a trailer and how to make the trailer suitable for the genre that I had chosen.

Researching trailers helped me to see what different shots could be used to go with the chosen genre, the music and the titles. Titles can look very different in each genre.

Using the blog to organize research and planning

For the planning, I posted every bit that I was doing so I could keep a record of what I had done and so that I could remember what it was that I still had left to do. For example I posted something every time I found out something new about going to film at The Manor by the Lake. I would then talk about what it was I was going to film there.

This enabled me to keep to the deadlines because I knew exactly what I had done and what I needed to do. It enabled me to keep everything together and produce exactly what I had in mind because I hadn’t left what I needed to do, too late.

Use of the Internet I used the internet to find different trailers, from youtube, to help me

choose which genre it was that I wanted to do, and then when I had chosen, to look for more trailers that were the same as the genre I had chosen to do. I didn’t only look at trailers but music videos too because some of the effects that they had used, I wanted to include in my trailer (stuff like slowing down or speeding up clips).

I used the blog to store all of my work because it shows as a storyline, how I came up with my media products. I was able to plan things that needed doing. This was effective because I could keep up to date with what I was doing and also plan what still needed to be done.

Without the internet I wouldn’t have been able to look at other trailers for ideas and seeing what made up a trailer. I therefore wouldn’t have known where to start with my trailer.

This is one of the trailers that I embedded onto my blog.

Use of photography in planning I produced a storyboard to come up with the sequence of

shots and what the shots were going to look like. This helped with me thinking about the different camera shots that were going to be used and possibly even how long each shot was going to be.

My first bit of proper photography was used when taking photos of the actors I was going to use. This was to show what the actors/characters were going to look like and to explain why I had chosen them to be the actors in my trailer. I then used it to take photos of the places where I did the filming (Inside Manor by the Lake). This was so that you could see clearly what each place looked like. Photography was effective

and helped with planning out a shot and seeing what looked good and what didn’t. It made me think about where I wanted the actors to be and the lighting.

To do lists

• I did a few ‘to do lists’ so that I could figure out what is was I still needed to do and what I had already done. Also, when I was going to be doing the filming. This was so that I didn’t forget anything when I went out to film. It also kept me up to date with what I’m doing and making sure that I kept to the deadline.
