General Objective: To determine the relationship between a medical student’s pre-medical course and their academic performance. Specific Objectives: o To determine the different pre-medical courses of medical students of De La Salle Health Sciences Institute enrolled in SY 2011-2012. o To identify if extracurricular activities negatively affect a medical student’s academic performance. o To identify the benefits that students receive in engaging in extracurricular activities in medical school. o To determine the amount or volume of extracurricular activities it takes to elicit a negative effect on a medical student. Research Question 1: What is the relationship between a medical student’s pre-medical course and their academic performance?

General Objective: To determine the relationship between a medical student’s pre-medical course and their academic performance.

Specific Objectives:o To determine the different pre-medical courses of medical students of

De La Salle Health Sciences Institute enrolled in SY 2011-2012.o To identify if extracurricular activities negatively affect a medical

student’s academic performance.o To identify the benefits that students receive in engaging in

Research Question 3: Is there a difference in the effectivity of Lagundi (Vitex negundo) and commercial cough drugs (Carbocisteine) in killing Streptococcus pneumoniae?

General Objective: To determine the relationship between the effectivities of Lagundi (Vitex negundo) and commercial cough drugs (Carbocisteine) in killing Streptococcus pneumoniae.

Specific Objectives:o To identify the active substance of both lagundi and carbocisteine that

aids in the killing of Streptococcus pneumoniae.o To determine the effectivity of lagundi in the killing of Streptococcus

pneumoniae.o To determine the effectivity of carbocisteine in the killing of

Streptococcus pneumoniae.o To identify which cough remedy is more effective in killing

Streptococcus pneumoniae.

 Research Question 4: Is there a difference in the prevalence of respiratory diseases in students Grades 4 – 6 of Dasmarinas, Cavite that have classes in airconditioned class rooms and those without an airconditioning system?

General Objective: To determine the relationship between the prevalence of respiratory diseases in students Grades 4 – 6 of Dasmarinas, Cavite that have classes in airconditioned class rooms and those without an airconditioning system.

Specific Objectives:o To identify the different respiratory diseases students Grades 4-6 of

Dasmarinas, Cavite have acquired in air conditioned class rooms.o To identify the different respiratory diseases students Grades 4-6 of

Dasmarinas, Cavite have acquired in non-air conditioned class rooms.o To determine the different pathogens that can thrive under the two

different class room conditions.o To determine which studying environment is more suitable in the

prevention of respiratory diseases.
