IIT Bhubaneswar celebrated its first research scholars’ day on 28th February 2011 on the occasion of the National Science Day. Prof. Madhusudhan Chakraborty, Director inaugurated the celebrations in the presence of Prof. Richard Dashwood (University of Warwick), Prof. Omkar Mohanty (Former Vice Chancellor, BPUT Odisha), Prof. S.C. Pani- grahi (IIT Kharagpur) , Prof. A.K. Behera (Retd. Professor NIT Rourkela). The brief infor- mal inaugural ceremony was also attended by Dy. Director, Deans and Heads of Schools. The research scholars from various schools of the Institute presented their research objectives and findings in the form of posters. The undergraduate students as well as the faculty and staff members of the Institute visited the poster presentation arena, interacted with the research scholars in an endeavor to understand, encourage and get inspired by the research work carried out in the Institute. The poster presentation was followed by expert talks from Prof. Bhanoji Rao (National University of Singapore) and Prof. Richard Dashwood (University of Warwick, UK). A committee consisting of Prof. Rao, Prof. Dash- wood and Prof. S. Tripathy (School of Earth, Ocean and Climate Sciences, IIT Bhubaneswar) evaluated the presentations and the best pres- entations were awarded.
