Strategic Goal

The strategic goal set 3 years ago, was to build the club from 44 to about 60 quality members. This year, thanks to all the members, we are now at 50 with the induction of Merideth today! My personal goal was 52, and we have 2 more in the queue for next year. I will work with the incoming chair Doug Hood. I would like to thank both Doug and Bob Clark for their efforts as part of the committee initiative this year.

InitiativesMy job this year was to not just increase our membership,

but to engage the club in the process. For this, we tried to improve communication and provide clarity and support for our new members.

◦ We wanted more presence at the club for our weekly guests, and we developed a membership placard for the main table.

We developed a table centre piece that shows, at a glance, what we do as a club.

All prospective members were encouraged to attend our club for several weeks. Before their induction, I sat down with each one, over lunch, to go over all the requirements and expectations of a Rotarian in our club.

We tidied up the Membership Classification list this year which had become outdated.

We held a Membership Roundtable meeting early in the year, with about 12 members, and basically provided a survey and questionnaire with regards to Membership, and how we were going to achieve our goals.

Pat Hutchinson, the District Membership Chair, was brought in as a guest speaker.

In the last week of May 2010, Martin hosted a “Fireside” for both this year’s and last year’s members. Some spouses came out and there was good information shared about Rotary and our club. I believe this was well received by the new members, and is something we should be doing each and every Rotary year.

It really has been a pleasure serving the Club as Membership Chair this year, and I pledge to work with Doug, the club, and new members, into the next year!
