Why the E-course was developed
• One of the most important jobs of microbicide researchers & advocates is to provide informative and accurate answers to questions from community members, trial participants, journalists, policymakers and others from around the world.

Goal of the E-course
• The Microbicide Essentials course is designed to build the capacity of clinical trial staff, advocates, policymakers, and other stakeholders to be able to speak knowledgeably and answer questions regarding the complexities of microbicides development.
• It aims to go beyond the basics to give in-depth information on the: – Basic science of HIV and microbicides – Need for microbicides and expected use – Preclinical research and clinical trials – Issues related to access

Credit
• All users receive a certificate of course completion after the final test
• U.S. nurses, nurse midwives, physician assistants, and physicians are able to receive continuing-education credits through ARHP and ACCME
• GCM is in conversations with South African and Ugandan universities to establish a continuing education system for Africa-based providers
